11-Year-Old Crashes Mom’s Car Into Day Care After He Grew Impatient Waiting for Her To Come Out

As moms, we have all dealt with a kid who grew tired of waiting for us to get stuff done. They can be really cranky and sometimes attempt to take control of the situation to the best of their abilities. But sometimes that impatience has consequences. A Missouri mom who is being charged with child endangerment learned that lesson recently, after her tween drove her car into a day care building.

It is unlikely that the mom will have to face jail time, but it’s still unknown at this point. Because of his age, the child will face no legal consequences.

The 11-year-old boy, whose name hasn’t been released, reportedly sat in his mom’s car while she picked up her other children, Fox 4 KC reported. As the mother went into Count On Me Academy in Independence, Missouri, around 4 p.m., the boy evidently got tired of waiting.

When police arrived, the boy told them that he decided to drive off because his mom was taking too long. He thought he had put the car in reverse, he claimed. But in reality, the car was in drive, and he smashed into the side of the building. Thankfully, the boy was not injured, and neither were other children and adults.

The day care has remained partially closed since the accident. Fox 4 reported that a bush is missing and there is a crack in the wall, along with some other damage.

“The window was pushed in it looks to me at least four inches or more because you can see the edging there. So I think it’s probably going to cost a little bit to get fixed,” Lisa Greenwell, a woman who works next to the day care, told the news outlet. “I don’t think it was a high rate of speed but yeah I think there was enough damage that the building is going to have to have quite a bit of work.”

Another woman, Chalene Williams, told Fox 4, “It’s kind of scary leaving an 11-year-old child in the car unattended.”

The mom was charged with child endangerment because the car was running and issued a citation. She was not immediately booked to allow her to tend to her other children. According to the police, the boy is not in trouble – at least, not with the law.
