‘Angel’ Mom of 4 Dies in ‘Bizarre’ Freak Accident While Working Out on Gym Treadmill

A tragic accident in a gym in Washington state, left four children without their mother. Delrie Rosario, 36, was working out with her sister, Marissa Woods, at an LA Fitness Center in Kent on July 21, when she fell while on the treadmill. Rosario reportedly hit her head and lost consciousness. She later died at an area hospital.

Woods told KIRO it was a “bizarre accident,” and her family and friends are in disbelief. The grieving sister said that she immediately screamed for help when Rosario fell and several patrons at the gym came to their aid, but she alleged no one from LA Fitness tried to help. Today, loved ones remember the mother who put her children above everything and want to do their best to care for them in her absence.

Rosario was familiar with a gym environment.

According to Woods, she and Rosario ran on the treadmill nearly daily. When the accident occurred on Friday, Woods said her sister fell suddenly. “She tried to slow the machine down. I thought maybe she just missed a step. She just collapsed, [and] hit her head on the machine,” she told KIRO.

Woods screamed for help.

Woods told KIRO she immediately tried to get someone to help her sister: “I was screaming, you know, ‘Anybody, just please help! Anybody know how to do CPR?'”

And while plenty of people came to help, she didn’t remember any staff from LA Fitness coming to their aid. “Not one worker,” said Woods. “I think they were in shock.”

Emergency personnel rushed Rosario to a local hospital, where she later died. According to multiple outlets, LA Fitness declined to comment on the tragic story.

Loved ones remembered Rosario as an incredible person.

The mother of four put her children first and always looked out for other people. Rashida Ballard wrote about Rosario on Facebook and her final gift of love.

“I’ve been fortunate to watch this beautiful soul Delrickae MiAmor blossom since her middle school years; from hanging out at Miller Community Center to becoming an amazing mother raising four incredible children,” she wrote. “In death, she has given even more life; her loved ones share that this tragedy has allowed five others to continue living through the gift of organ donation. Her heart, lungs, liver and kidneys now reside within others, providing them and their own loved ones with more time. Time, our most precious resource …”

Coworkers created a GoFundMe to help her children.

Noelle Meluskey created the GoFundMe account, calling her friend “an Angel walking amongst us here on earth.” She said that her life was tragically cut short. The fundraiser has a $50,000 goal to help her children Delaino, Rickey, Ric’Kae, and Delaiah. So far, it has raised more than $25,000.

“Delaino, Rickey, Ric’Kae and Delaiah, I’ll always remember the chats that I had with your mom when I would relieve her at work from her night shift,” a friend recalled. “Your mom would often stay back and give me updates of each of you. Even with the challenges of parenting, having to work 2 jobs to provide, she was always so proud of your accomplishments and loved you kids. Each of you were her life’s blessings.”
