17-Year-Old Teen Mom Allegedly Stabbed Newborn Before Sending ‘Horror’ Video of Death to Baby’s Dad

Police in France are investigating the stabbing of a newborn, allegedly by its mother. The mother — a teenager — allegedly also filmed the death. Details about the killing are still emerging as police continue their investigation.

This is the second time this week a teenager in France has been accused of killing their child. Earlier this week, an American teenager was arrested after allegedly throwing her newborn out of a window at a hotel in Paris.

Mirror reported on the newborn stabbing via French news outlet BFM TV. According to the report, the 17-year-old mother of the baby boy has been named as the main subject in the investigation. The incident took place in an apartment in Tarare, in eastern France.

Local reports claim that that she sent video footage of the child’s death to a man who is allegedly the child’s father. In turn, he called the police. The Lyon prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into the murder of a minor under 15 years old.

Police are still uncovering details about the girl and what led to the newborn being stabbed. However, they do know that the newborn was found wrapped in a sheet under a bed. Investigators believe that the newborn may have been stabbed with a pair of scissors. Their initial examinations suggest that the baby was killed shortly after being born.

Emergency services at the scene confirmed that the newborn was dead. There were allegedly four family members present at the time of the killing; the family members had to be taken to the hospital for shock.

The mother of the child was taken to the maternity ward in Villefranche-sur-Saône. She was then taken into police custody before being released for medical reasons.

Mirror reported from French newspaper Le Progrès, describing the “horror” of the situation. One neighbor of the girl spoke with the outlet, claiming that police had mistakenly banged on his door first when they arrived at the apartment building. “How should we react to this horror?” another neighbor asked.
