Texas police are looking for answers in a possible murder-suicide in Harris County. A man allegedly shot and killed his wife and young son before turning the gun on himself. He was taken to the hospital, but ultimately died. Authorities are still investigating what led the man to allegedly commit the crimes, but it seems that he had been going through some difficulties. It may have pushed him to have a sort of breakdown. At the time of the incident, there were reportedly others in the home, but they were not injured.
Ed Gonzalez, Harris County sheriff, posted about the incident on social media. On Saturday, June 7, officers from the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call in Katy, Texas. When they arrived, the woman and child were already dead. A man had been flown to the hospital. “Based on initial observations, this appears to be a double murder/suicide (attempt). All information is preliminary,” the post said.

In an update, Gonzalez shared that the man was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital.
A second update came after the investigation had begun. Gonzalez gave more information, including that the man was 42 years old and his wife was 43, and correcting the age of the boy from age 2 to 7. He also explained that the gun used was found at the scene.
In a press conference, Gonzalez said that the man may have been dealing with mental health issues, including depression. “Lately, the adult male had apparently been without a job and going through some other issues and had possibly sought some treatment recently,” he said.
Fox 26 Houston reported that a 19-year-old woman, who police believe is the deceased couple’s daughter, was in the home at the time of the shooting. Her boyfriend was also with her. Neither were injured. So far, the identities of those killed have not been released.
