11-Year-Old Threw Herself on Top of Mom While Her Dad Was Allegedly Trying to Kill Her — Then She Was Stabbed

Several members of a Pennsylvania family are recovering after a horrific attack. Richard Hall is facing multiple charges after allegedly stabbing his estranged wife, their daughter, and other family members. The woman had fled her relationship with Hall, and he retaliated, seeking her out. He then reportedly attempted to take her life, which made the daughter jump into action. Desperate to save her mother, she tried to take on her father. Luckily, the story doesn’t end in tragedy.

Pennsylvania State Police troopers were called to a Redstone Township home on September 28, 2025, WPXI reported. They were responding to reports of a “domestic-related stabbing,” a representative said. When they arrived, troopers learned six people were injured. Two were flown to nearby hospitals, while three were taken by ambulance. One other person was treated at the home and released.

According to police, Hall violated an order of protection filed against him by his estranged wife by showing up at her parents’ home. The man showed up at the home and kicked in the back door, KDKA News reported. His wife and children have not been named.

“She recently moved back in with her parents, and she took their 11- and 8-year-old children with her,” Fayette County District Attorney Mike Aubele shared in a statement, per KDKA News. “He showed up at the house.”

Aubele explained that the estranged couple had “some sort of conversation,” but the woman wouldn’t let him into the home.

Hall allegedly “physically broke a window door” to get into the home and began stabbing his estranged wife. Their 11-year-old daughter sacrificed herself, throwing her body on top of her mother’s to get Hall to stop. He then stabbed the girl as well.

“This 11-year-old girl threw herself on top of her mother and probably prevented her from being killed,” Aubele said. “It’s not the first time she’s protected her mother from this man. I can’t say enough about what she did.”

A report from the Observer-Reporter in Washington, Pennsylvania, cites court documents that say the couple’s 8-year-old son was also in the home and ran to get help after witnessing his mother being stabbed. The woman’s parents also intervened, giving their daughter a chance to escape her maniacal husband. They were also stabbed.

Hall then reportedly turned the knife on himself. He was taken to a hospital before being turned over to police. All of the victims are expected to recover. Aubele vowed Hall will be “prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law,” KDKA News reported.

“There’s absolutely no excuse for what happened yesterday, regardless of what issues you have in your marriage,” Aubele said the day after the incident, per WPXI. “It’s not an excuse to stab four people.”

Hall faces many charges, including attempted homicide, aggravated assault, endangering welfare of children, criminal trespass, reckless endangerment, harassment, and criminal mischief, according to the Observer-Reporter.
