17-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Shot Mom & Stepdad Whose Dead Bodies Were Found Next to 6-Year-Old Sister

A Georgia teen girl has been arrested and charged with the murders of her mother and stepfather. Sarah Grace Patrick voluntarily turned herself in after a months-long investigation into the deaths. Police are still investigating, and now they will try to figure out the motive. So far, they have not been able to figure out what might have led the girl to shoot her mom and stepdad. The girl alerted emergency services to the crime after her younger sister found their parents’ bodies in their bedroom.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office announced the arrest of Patrick, 17, in a Facebook post on July 8, 2025. She has been charged with two counts each of murder and aggravated assault, per the release. On February 20, 2025, Patrick’s mother, 41-year-old Kristin Brock, and her mother’s husband, 45-year-old James Brock, were found dead from “apparent gunshot wounds.”

“From the very moment the 911 call was received, a relentless investigation began, one that would span months, consume thousands of hours, and require the full weight of local and federal law enforcement partnerships,” the release shared.

The sheriff’s office went through “mountains of physical and digital evidence,” and “conducted countless interviews” since February. Authorities reiterated that the case is still being actively investigated, and new arrests could be made as additional evidence may become available.

In a news conference, Carroll County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Ashley Hulsey confirmed that Patrick turned herself in to police. She also shared that they are still trying to determine a motive.

“We don’t know what goes through the mind of a child that wants to harm her parents,” Hulsey said. “She’s 17 – she’s kind of been out on her own. She’s lived with different family members and moved all over the place.”

Hulsey added it’s “hard to tell” if other family members were involved in the crime or the coverup. She made it clear, however, that they’ve been “nothing but cooperative” as the investigation has gone on.

Patrick will be charged as an adult, Hulsey revealed during the media conference. Her father was with her when she turned herself in.

Patrick was the one who called 911 after her 6-year-old sister found their bodies, Fox 5 reported. “A big takeaway from this story – a mother and stepfather will never be able to raise their children,” Hulsey said during the news conference.

The release from the sheriff’s office also mentioned the young girl.

“Our prayers remain with the families of James and Kristin Brock, and especially with their young daughter who was at home during this horrific crime,” the release shared.
