In January 2025, a 34-year-old teacher in New Jersey was arrested after the parent of her former student alleged she had a sexual relationship with his son, and that the relationship resulted in a child. Currently, she is facing sexual assault charges because the boy was only 13 when the child was born.
The boy, who is now over 18, spoke out about the yearslong affair. According to him, the relationship was all his idea. And he’s standing firm on that.

Laura Caron, now 34, allegedly began a relationship with the boy when he was 11 years old in 2016. The relationship lasted for four years, and she gave birth to a child that is allegedly his in 2019. But it took several more years before anyone discovered the alleged relationship.
According to a news report from WPVI, the boy’s father saw Caron’s 5-year-old daughter, and realized the child bore a striking resemblance to his son. That’s when police started the investigation. They learned that Caron, a teacher at Middle Township Elementary School No. 2, had taught the boy and his siblings in fifth grade. The family developed a close relationship with Caron, and the children began spending the night at her house.
The boy’s sister told police that her brother would sleep in Caron’s bed. She also said she got a text from her brother, and he admitted to being the father of Caron’s child.
Caron was arrested and charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault, and endangering the welfare of a child. But the boy, who spoke exclusively with the Daily Mail, says that everyone has it all wrong.
“They need to drop all charges,” the now 19-year-old, who was not named, said. “I wasn’t groomed or raped or manipulated by her. She never initiated anything. I started everything. If it was up to me she wouldn’t have been in jail. It’s been six or seven years. I’m 19 about to be 20.”
One of the stipulations of Caron’s bail was that she and her child’s father could not have contact. The boy says it “sucks” that they’ve had to cut off contact. He also said that claims of Caron being a “predator” bother him. “I’ve seen it all and its crazy,” he said. “The media is weird for staying that stuff.”
He also told the outlet that he blames his father for everything that’s happened. As a result of his father’s Facebook post, the two are now estranged. “I didn’t want her violated like that,” he said.

He has nothing but good things to say about Caron. “This stuff is so deep,” he said. “Like the world has no idea what she has done for my family. She was there for me and my family.”
Caron’s former student told the outlet that he is an athlete and was looking to get into a top college, but due to everything that’s been happening, it’s been challenging.
Regardless of everything, he knows this much: “I love her with all my heart.”
