When you get into a fight with someone, there are a lot of things you can do. Most people might scream. Others may get in the other person’s face or possibly shove them. But not many people will resort to using a popular dinner entree as a weapon. A Florida teen girl decided to break with tradition on that one. Farrah Kernan got upset with her mom for unknown reasons. No one was expecting her to assault her mother with a pork chop during their fight, though.
Kernan reportedly used what she had available to her before escalating the altercation with physical violence. Now, she’s facing charges.
A deputy with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a home in Jensen Beach for a “verbal dispute” between the 18-year-old and her mother on January 22, 2026, according to a probable cause affidavit obtained by WKRC.
The teen had allegedly been drinking during the day prior to the argument, the document read. One of the mother’s friends recorded a video of the altercation, which showed her slapping her mother across the face with her right hand.

Before she was slapped, the mother told police Kernan threw a pork chop at her. The deputy at the home noted that he observed “food residue” on the mother’s left shoulder consistent with her story, per WKRC.
When confronted by the deputy, Kernan “appeared confused and provided statements that were inconsistent with the evidence and not related to the battery.” She reportedly became uncooperative, and she began screaming and crying.
Kernan was arrested on a single count of domestic battery, Us Weekly reported. The affidavit does not state if her mother was injured in the attack. The teen was being held on a $2,500 bond.
According to a report from The Smoking Gun, Kernan was arrested last year for trespassing on a Jensen Beach causeway. The day before her arrest, she was issued a trespass warning for “a physical altercation with another female.” As part of her deferred prosecution agreement in that case, she was ordered to do 50 hours of community service.
