A family in England is grieving the unexpected loss of a teenage boy. Luis Gabriel Guembes was found with stab wounds in a park in Surrey. Despite multiple first responders trying to save him, there was nothing they could do. Sadly, he died of his injuries. Police quickly found and arrested two teenage boys in connection with Guembes’ death. They face a series of charges that include murder.
Police are continuing to gather details in the teen’s murder. Right now, those who love him are banding together to get through this difficult time together as the investigation continues.
Officers from Surrey Police responded to reports of a stabbing in a wooded area in Stoke Park around 6:10 p.m. on January 19, 2026, Surrey Live reported. Police officers, paramedics, and members of the public worked together to try to save the teenage boy, but despite their best efforts, he was declared dead at the scene. The boy was later identified as Guembes, 15.
“Luis’ family has requested privacy to come to terms with their loss. We ask that you respect their wishes, and our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time,” a spokesperson for Surrey Police shared in a statement January 23.

After the stabbing, a 15-year-old boy and a 16-year-old boy were arrested on suspicion of murder. The teens, who have not been named because of their ages, appeared in court on January 24, the BBC reported. They were charged with murder and conspiracy to rob, as well as with “possession of a bladed article.”
During the hearing, the teens only spoke to confirm their names. They are being held in custody until February 23.
A close friend of the Guembes family set up a GoFundMe account to help with funeral costs. It’s already met its goal. In the fundraiser, the person explained that the boy, who is referred to as Gabriel, moved to London from Lima, Peru, “in search of hope, opportunity, and a better future.”
“Gabriel was an amazing son and an incredible young soul. He was kind, bright, driven, and full of promise,” the page read “A devoted student, a passionate soccer player, and a loving son, Gabriel had a smile that could light up a room and a heart that touched everyone he met. He was deeply loved and will be forever missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.”
