A Dad Driving 100 MPH Crashed His Car & Immediately Ran Off, Abandoning Wife & 4 Kids in Wreck

Members of a Texas family are in critical and serious condition after a horrific car crash. The man behind the wheel was driving at a dangerously fast speed, hitting another car in the process. And after the collision, the alleged driver, father of four Terrance Carr, reportedly left the scene, leaving his family behind.

The crash took place on the night of March 25, 2025, KTRK reported. Carr has now been found and arrested while his wife and children still lie in the hospital. Police are continuing to work on the case to try to understand why the accident occurred, but they may already have insight into what made the man flee the accident scene.

Video footage viewed by the Houston Police Department shows a Ford Expedition speeding down a street in North Houston. According to police, the Expedition was going almost 100 mph.

As the car flew down the street, a Chevrolet Avalanche was making a right turn into a gas station. There was no way for the Avalanche to stop, and the two vehicles collided. The collision caused the Expedition to flip and land in a ditch. A woman and three children were trapped inside, with the fourth child being ejected from the vehicle. They all survived but were taken to the hospital in serious and critical condition.

That’s when the driver, later identified as Carr, ran off, eventually jumping in another car that drove off with him inside.

“I have no idea what’s going through his mind at the time. I don’t know if there was some other reason that he felt he needed to flee,” HPD Captain Ryan Watson told KTRK at the time of the incident.

John McCoy, the man driving the Avalanche, stayed behind after the crash. “No lights. I looked at my mirror before I was going to turn. I ain’t see nothing. Next thing I know, I got ready to turn, BANG!” he told KTRK.

McCoy and other eyewitnesses rushed to the aid of the family. “Once I went down there to help, [Carr] came out of there. He trampled over the babies and the momma and all,” he said, per the news outlet. “She was bleeding everywhere. He took off running. He met another car down the street and got in the car and took off.”

KTRK obtained court documents revealing Carr’s arrest. According to the documents, at the time of the crash, Carr was out on bond for a DWI with a child passenger charge. This incident took place last month.

Court documents also noted that Carr spoke with a witness at the scene before he left. “Get my kids. I got to get out of here,” he said, per the news outlet.

The court documents also show Carr’s wife received a broken arm, his 3-year-old had a collapsed lung, and his 8-year-old, who was ejected from the car, had abdominal injuries, KTRK reported. Additionally, a 7-month-old and a 4-year-old were in the car.

Terrance Carr faces a felony charge of abandoning a child.
