Teen Girl Arrested After Parents Find Plans To Kill Ex-Boyfriend Before She Appears on Ring Camera

A teen girl in Washington has been arrested after an apparent plot to kill her ex-boyfriend was foiled. Trinity Morley allegedly wrote about a sinister plan in her journal. Her parents found the journal entry and alerted police to what she might do. After writing out the plan in her journal, she set out to make it happen. Her ex-boyfriend’s family allegedly saw Morley’s masked face on their Ring camera. Thankfully, police showed up and stopped her from killing anyone, but the girl is still facing charges.

The incident took place on July 27, 2025, in Maple Valley, Washington, the King County Sheriff’s Office shared in a statement. Members of the Maple Valley Police Department and sheriff’s deputies responded to a call for a welfare check, the statement added.

Nineteen-year-old Morley reportedly had written a concerning entry in her journal revealing that she planned to go to her ex-boyfriend’s house with a shotgun. According to a report from Fox 13, her parents found the journal and called 911.

“I have the gun now, three rounds of buckshot. The shotgun is heavy. He told me that If I don’t hold it right, my arm will get blown off. I have three chances to get this right and I don’t want to resort to knives,” she wrote.

Morley’s parents told the 911 operator that she had already left their home. They believed that maybe she was planning to graffiti his house, but what she had planned was much worse than that.

Surveillance footage showed a hooded figure wearing a mask and holding a shotgun. The figure approached the home while the ex-boyfriend’s family was inside. It was later confirmed the figure was Morley.

After seeing the masked figure staring into the Ring camera, the ex’s dad called 911. Later, he told deputies that he rushed his family upstairs to safety.

Eventually, the teen backed away from the door, but deputies were already approaching. Morley ran, and a drone from the sheriff’s office found her on a nearby dock. She still had the shotgun and also a knife. In body camera footage also shared on social media, authorities can be seen talking to her calmly. Eventually, they convinced her to surrender herself and talk to them. The teen complied, and she was arrested.

According to court documents, prosecutors said Morley admitted she intended to kill her ex-boyfriend, Fox 13 reported. After killing him, she was going to force a fatal confrontation with police. Reportedly, she told deputies she was upset because she filed rape allegations against the ex and no charges came. Police closed the case as unfounded.

Prosecutors noted Morley’s “eerie” demeanor during her arrest. Allegedly she smiled, rolled her eyes and chuckled while in police custody. She allegedly told a deputy writing about what happened “It’s a good story.”

Her ex-boyfriend, who has not been identified, was not home when the incident occurred. He told deputies they hadn’t been in contact in months.

Morley has been charged with first-degree murder. She is being held on a $500,000 bail at King County Jail.
