We're moms, and we have been through it all. But we are also the first to admit that not all our moments are shiny and bright. We do try our very best to be good parents and be as loving, kind, and patient as possible with our kids. But shoot – they make it hard sometimes. We don't know about you, but we love social media because it connects us with all kinds of moms in the trenches who are just trying to survive like we are, and we've actually learned a a few tricks from them.
Erin Monroe, aka @erin.monroe_, is a mom who understands our plight. She shared a parenting tip on Instagram recently, and people are obsessed. According to Erin, if your kids are melting down, there's no need to yell or scream; you just have to be a "cringy millennial mom."

Her kids were giving her the business.
Just like every kid out there does, Erin's kids were having a fit. She started her now-viral video with a quick disclaimer. "I am not really sure what parenting style this is, but my kids were being an absolute nightmare," she said.
No matter how hard she tried, nothing was working. So Erin dug deep into her millennial soul and pulled out the big guns.
Flo Rida to the rescue.
Yep, she'd had it with her children and knew there was only one cure. She blasted Flo Rida's 2007 mega-hit "Low," hit the floor, and the next thing you know, "Shorty got low, low, low, low, low, low, low."
Her children were positively stunned, but it worked. The crying and whining stopped dead in their tracks.
The whole club, uh ... kitchen, was looking at her.
She declared, "I broke my kneecaps dancing like a fool." Her children didn't know what to do, so they jumped right in.
"When in doubt, just bust out your early 2000s hip hop and dance like a fool in the kitchen. Be a cringy millennial mom," she declared.
Girl, we are here for it, and so is the Instagram crowd.
Parents are obsessed with the idea.
One commenter nailed the parenting style and wrote, "This parenting style is called ✨️unhinged✨️."
Other parents used similar techniques.
"My therapist calls it "changing the sensory environment. I call it 'keeping my little heathen on her toes' or 'nothin' a random dance party can't fix,'" someone else wrote.
People plan to give it a shot.
“Taking notes definitely using this next time ❤️,” another person commented.
Another parent laughed and wrote, "'When in doubt bust out your 2000s hip-hop" is the best life advice I've ever heard."

The past doesn't always come back to haunt you.
Sometimes, what we did in our carefree days can be pretty helpful.
As one person wrote, "Former club moms do it best ."
Another woman had a shocking revelation. "So you're telling me all those years I spent all drunk and sweaty and dancing in dirty clubs in college … is going to come in handy for parenting?!" she asked.
And we totally agree with this poster: "Nah that's not cringe millennial that's cool as f—."
Erin, thanks for the tip. We'll be throwing on our Apple Bottom jeans and boots with the fur before making dinner tonight. We need all the help we can get.
