Beloved Dad Is Killed After Being Hit by a Car While Trying To Protect His Family: ‘My Hero’

A dad who died after being hit by a car in Texas was reportedly trying to protect his family, his loved ones have shared. Adam Bouvet, 50, and his wife, Tracy, were visiting Dallas at the end of October to see Adam’s oldest daughter and his grandson.

On October 25, a car struck Adam while he was walking back from lunch with his wife, two daughters, and grandson.

The family had walked to have lunch at a cafe near Adam's daughter's house.

While the husband and wife were in Dallas visiting Adam’s daughter, they went for lunch at a cafe that’s down the street from his daughter’s house. Unfortunately, the short walk resulted in tragedy. While the family was walking home, a driver reportedly lost control of their vehicle and drove over the curb, hitting the family, reported KTLA.

The dad shielded his family and 'took the brunt of the impact.'

The family believes that Adam prioritized saving his family. “He basically took Tracy and threw her out of the way and unfortunately took the brunt of the impact,” a friend, Brad Neet, told ABC 7. Tracy has minor injuries from the crash, but Adam’s daughters and grandson were not injured. Adam was rushed to the hospital with severe injuries. Unfortunately, he died in the hospital a few days later.

Adam's wife has called him her 'hero.'

In a Facebook post, Tracy described hearing “loud screeching” during the walk home from lunch on the day of the incident.

“In a second I was knocked down only to get up and not see my husband. I found him in front of the car that hit us,” Tracy wrote. “I believe he saved us all.”

She added: “I do believe he took the hit to save us all. He is my hero. The love of my life, my best friend, the best husband.”

His friend described him as 'a pillar in the community.'

Adam’s family remember him as an amazing dad and husband, and his community also recognized him for his contributions. He co-owned The Mill Restaurant in Murrieta, California, for 17 years.

After his death, customers left notes and flowers at the restaurant to honor him. “He is a giver, he is a pillar in the community, but most of all he truly loved his family,” his friend Brad told ABC 7.

Brad added, “You lose a best friend and you miss him forever and he leaves a hole not only in my heart, but he leaves a huge hole in the community for what he did do during his time here.”

Friends have started a GoFundMe page for the family.

As Adam’s family grieves, friends continue to raise money to support them via a GoFundMe fundraiser. “[Adam] is the angel that Tracy and Sidney deserve,” the GoFundMe page reads. “Please say a prayer and understand the family is learning how to move forward…. She is lost for words with appreciation for the support she has received. ❤️❤️❤️.”
