9-Year-Old Girl ‘Too Perfect for This World’ Dies From Complications From the Flu

A mom has shared on social media that her daughter recently died from flu complications. The girl’s death highlights just how dangerous having the flu can be, especially for children. It is always a more dangerous time of year, as illnesses seem to be all around us, and we know kids aren’t always so careful about prevention.

Now, the family is mourning the loss of their “perfect” daughter. There’s no way to say if her death could have been prevented, but it’s a good reminder to take extra precautions.

Christina Klyczek shared the progress of her 9-year-old daughter Mia’s illness on her Facebook page in public posts. On February 19, 2025, she shared that the girl “went into the ER this morning after a slight fever and vomiting.” The girl was seizing, and then had to be sedated and given a breathing tube “to give her body time to heal.”

At the time, Klyczek shared that Mia had tested positive for Flu B. According to Verywell Health, Flu B “is contagious and easily passed from person to person.” Additionally, symptoms can “range from mild to severe,” and typically last about a week.

After Mia was hospitalized, a GoFundMe was set up for the family, sharing more details about the girl’s health. When she tested positive for the flu, doctors realized it was impacting her heart and had caused bleeding to her brain. Christina also shared more updates in a February 21 Facebook post.

“Mia’s MRI showed no blood flow to the brain and 4 dead areas,” she wrote. “No human being can save Mia at this point. She is in God’s hands, a cure is only in God’s hands. I know she is with Jesus right now. But I hope He will change his mind and send her back for a little while longer.”

Sadly, Mia died as a result of her flu complications. “Heaven gained another angel tonight,” Christina said on February 23. “God knew she was too perfect for this world. We will love you forever, Mia Sofia.”
