Being pregnant is a wonderful but unpredictable time. You never know what kind of things might happen while you're pregnant, whether it's pregnancy complications, pesky family members, or other unbelievable circumstances. We all hope to have a smooth pregnancy and birthing experience, but sometimes life has other plans.
One mom on TikTok shared a video of a situation she could have never anticipated: part of the ceiling in her hospital room collapsing in on her while she lay sleeping in her hospital bed! Throughout it all, the mom kept a sense of humor about the truly wild moment.

You can't make something like this up.
Savannah Astani, a mom and realtor in Austin, Texas, shared the video to TikTok last month. "It's 4 am and the hospital ceiling just fell on me while I'm preparing to give birth," she wrote on the video.
When the video starts, Astani can be heard saying, "The ceiling in the hospital literally f—ing fell," she said as she panned across the debris that had fallen into her bed. She continued to pan around the bed and floor, showing the fallen ceiling panel.
She and her husband have differing opinions on what to do.
As she pans across the room, her husband leans into view. "Let the record reflect, we will not be suing," he says. "Mm, I don't know about that," she replies.
"The ceiling fell ON me while I was sleeping," she says again. Pretty quickly, nurses come in and help to clean the debris off the bed and floor. "You better believe im asking for their nicest room," the post caption reads.
The comments were hilarious.
"Labor is about to be FREEEE!" one person wrote.
"The way one of the wings would be named after me," someone else wrote.
"Not suing? The hospital is paying for University ," another commented.
"I would be googling lawyers so quick lol," someone else wrote.
"Your lawyer is going to love the employee saying 'it’s surprising that this hasn’t happened already' ," another person quipped.

There was an update to the story.
In a follow-up video labeled "Much Anticipated Update," Astani shared that she "did not expect" her first video to "blow up so much." And while she was still shocked at it going viral, she made it clear that she would not talk about "a private issue."
She was still in the hospital, but didn't give any updates about if she had a room switch or was still in the original room. While she didn't share much, she revealed that she would be in the hospital for some time, and asked her followers for tips to keep busy.
Does she have any legal rights?
While many people suggested that she sue, and took her not discussing the matter further as a sign she planned to, does she really have any legal rights to sue?
Armstrong, Lee & Baker, Texas personal injury lawyers, outlined that part of the case would include determining who was at fault, which they say is "one of the most challenging aspects of pursuing a claim for compensation after a ceiling collapse." So even if she wanted to sue, it might be more trouble than it's worth, especially with a baby on the way.
