Travel Blogger Reveals Twins Both ‘Passed Away’ in Her Arms After 3-Year IVF Journey

TRIGGER WARNING: This post contains information about stillbirth and infant loss, which may be triggering to some.

A travel influencer on TikTok and mom-to-be has gone through a devastating pregnancy loss. The woman, Angela Ceccarelli, has spent several years using her platform to document her pregnancy journey. After getting pregnant, she continued to share updates. But the most recent one is the most heartbreaking.

Sadly, she was dealing with medical issues that compromised her pregnancy. And while there was a solution, unfortunately, it was too late.

The mom-to-be was dealing with a rare pregnancy condition.

Angela, who bills herself as a “travel advisor” on the video sharing platform, has been documenting her high-risk twin pregnancy for several months. In her most recent post, she revealed plans to travel for surgery.

Angela was recently diagnosed with a pregnancy condition called twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome. According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome “occurs in pregnancies where twins share one placenta (afterbirth) and a network of blood vessels that supply oxygen and nutrients essential for development in the womb.”

Often, this means there’s an “imbalance,” leading to one twin getting more nutrients and blood than the other. That means the one twin “runs the risk of malnourishment and organ failure,” while the other is “susceptible to overwork of the heart and other cardiac complications.”

@angela_ceccarelli Not the news we wanted at our scan today. We progressed to Stage 2-3 Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome. 💔 There is barely any fluid around Baby B (1.5) and Baby A has way too much (12.5). Also my cervix has shortened to a scary length of 1.5 from the pressure of the excess fluid. The emergency laser surgery is necessary at this point to save the twins. We got on the next flight to Denver so we can see the doctor first thing in the morning with surgery most likely tomorrow. Please keep my little babies in your prayers. 🩵🩵 #ttts #twintotwintransfusionsyndrome #twins #pregnancycomplications #twinpregnancy #emergency #surgery #20weekspregnant ♬ Roslyn – Bon Iver & St. Vincent

Things had recently become more serious.

“There is barely any fluid around Baby B (1.5) and Baby A has way too much (12.5),” she explained in the post’s caption. “Also my cervix has shortened to a scary length of 1.5 from the pressure of the excess fluid.” This necessitated an emergency trip to Denver to have surgery to save her babies.

“The emergency laser surgery is necessary at this point to save the twins,” she said in the caption. She is seen holding a pillow and looking out the window of the plane. “We got on the next flight to Denver so we can see the doctor first thing in the morning with surgery most likely tomorrow. Please keep my little babies in your prayers,” she asked.

Sadly, her video came with a sad update.

Sadly, her update in the comments revealed unfortunate news. “I lost the twins today,” the comment reads. “My water broke from the pressure of the extra fluid & we couldn’t perform the surgery. I went into labor soon after, delivered them, & they passed away in my arms.”

“Your video of finding out you were pregnant just came up on my fyp and I came for an update and left in tears,” one commenter wrote. “Every woman young and old mourns for you. I’m so sorry.”

“Life is so unfair sometimes,” another comment notes. “I can see how badly you wanted this. Idk what to say other than please take care of yourself in this time of mourning.”

“One mumma cries, we all cry,” another person wrote. “You’re in my thoughts and sending strength and healing prayers.”

She had been happily documenting her pregnancy.

In early March, Angela shared a video documenting the long process she underwent to become pregnant. “After 3 years of battling IVF and infertility we were starting to lose hope on ever becoming parents… and by a beautiful twist of fate we naturally conceived TWINS!” the caption reads. “We are still pinching ourselves everyday and can’t believe it. It feels like every hurdle and heartbreak we’ve been through has led us to this.”

After her announcement, people left notes of comfort. “You will forever be their momma,” one comment reads. “Your sweet babies only ever knew your warmth and love. You did everything you could. Brighter days are ahead, don’t lose all of your hope. Sending you so much love.”
