Kids are full of surprises. We’ve been in the game long enough to know you never know what they might say. Trust us – their words have brought us a flood of emotions through the years and even gotten us into an uncomfortable conversation or two. But we wouldn’t change motherhood for the world, and bringing a new baby into the family has always been one of our most treasured blessings.
Of course, with a new baby, we have to tell the other kids they’re getting a promotion. Sounds exciting, right? Not always.
TikTok mom Jessica recently shared pregnancy news with her daughter, Milan, and there was a whole lot of shock. Milan couldn’t believe her mom was pregnant, and Jessica was equally shocked at Milan’s emotional roller coaster reaction after hearing the news. A whopping 14.6 million people watched the TikTok from her mama, @jbentley, and can’t get enough of the big sis in training.

Milan thought she was getting just a present.
The video starts with her parents giving sweet Milan — who seems to be in the 7 to 10 age range — a pretty bag, and, excitedly, Milan asks, “What is the present for?”
Her mom responds, “Because we love you so much.”
Milan is all smiles as she rips the tissue from the bag, but then she sees a book and yells, “Ahh! I don’t want to be a sister!” as she tosses it on the table.
Her mom instructs her to open the rest of the gift, and it dawns on Milan what is happening. She asks her mom, “Are you having a baby?”
Milan was not thrilled with the news.
When her mom tells her she is indeed getting promoted to big sister, Milan loses it. She is truly distraught by the news and worries her parents won’t love her anymore.
Milan continues her tear-soaked rant, lamenting her love for baby dolls and ensuring her parents a real baby is not the same. Jessica tries to calm her, but things just get worse, and poor Milan starts down an awful rabbit hole.
The thought of being a big sister made Milan question her mortality.
The sweet girl tells her mom that if she’s the bigger sister, then she’ll die before the baby, and at this point, our hearts start to break a bit for the kid. She then asks if she’s overreacting or having a dream, and poor Jessica doesn’t know what to do.
But she does what any great mom does when their baby hurts: She calms her down and tells her she loves her.
Oh, Milan, we feel for you, sis.
TikTokers were in their feels with Milan.
Some joked that her parents blew it.

Others felt Milan’s pain.

This new baby is lucky to have Milan.
As one TikToker pointed out, Milan is one smart cookie.
“All jokes aside, she’s a brilliant child,” the person pointed out. “The amount of information and questions that went through her brain when you told her you were pregnant. This girl is gifted.”
Milan, we know this was a shock, but as moms, we promise there’s plenty of love to go around, and you will always be your mama’s No. 1. We can’t wait to see you smiling as the best big sis around.
