A woman on Reddit is sharing the story of the day she decided to shut down a “Karen” in an unexpected way. The woman recently had a baby, and due to her appearance, the Karen assumed that she was a teen mom. Based on the assumption, the older woman said some truly offensive things, right there in the middle of a Target store.
Instead of letting the Karen get away with being so rude, the new mom decided to level the woman’s comments with a snappy comeback. Safe to say, that woman might think twice about who she talks to in the future.

The mom had just left the hospital with her newborn.
In the post, the 20-year-old new mom shared that she’s only 5 feet tall, and her height and young face make people think she’s still a teenager. After a traumatic birth, the woman and her husband stopped at the store to get some things they were going to need at home that were unanticipated, like adult diapers and baby formula.
She was unprepared for what was going to happen to her.
While sitting in the store and waiting for her husband to do the shopping, the mom said the older woman came toward her as she sat in front of the bathrooms. “I assume she originally planned to use them but got sidetracked by my baby since she walked right past them and towards me,” she wrote. She understands that older people often want to coo over new babies.
“Instead of smiling back at me, she frowns, and instead of cooing over how precious she looks, this lady starts lecturing me about teen pregnancies and premarital sex,” the mom shared.
The Karen didn't hold back at all.
“She tells me I should be ashamed of myself, that the youth of today is ruining America, how I should pray to God for forgiveness, and a bunch of other stuff I honestly don’t remember. I was shocked into silence at first, which she took as an invitation to keep going. Finally she asks me ‘are your parents embarrassed to have a slut for a daughter?'” the mom revealed.
The woman pointed out in her post that the Karen was making pretty audacious assumptions about her relationship to the baby.
“What if I’m just babysitting? What if this baby was my sister and I was watching her while our mom/dad used the bathroom? Or maybe she’s my cousin?” She added that the older woman “just decided she knew and needed to say something about it.”

The new mama had an epic clapback.
The young woman admitted that normally, she doesn’t have “witty comebacks” and isn’t “quick on my feet in stressful situations.” That was about to change.
“Instead, I looked her dead in the eyes, the most deadpan look on my face, as I calmly told her ‘This is my baby sister. Our mom just died giving birth to her.'” Naturally, the older woman was not expecting that kind of response.
“Her eyes went wide, her face turned red, and she [gaped] at me like a fish for a moment before quickly turning around and walking away.”
Later, when she told her husband about the interaction, she said her husband praised her, saying that he was “proud of me for putting that b—- in her place.”
People gave her a lot of props for setting the Karen straight.
“Love how you turned the tables on her – karma’s a great teacher!” one person wrote.
“I love it!” someone commented. “I’m also a short, younger than my age looking woman. One time, I was heavily pregnant and grocery shopping and this old man was giving me the dirtiest look and I was taken aback at first! But then I realized he sees someone who looks too young to be out of college, super pregnant, and his crusty dusty old brain was short circuiting. He didn’t say anything to me, but I probably would have had a smart mouth response if he had.”
“A neighbor called my husband a child molester when I was pregnant with our first. I was 25 and my husband was 26, but the neighbor thought my husband was in his 30s and I was 15. My husband is 6’2 with a full beard and a tan from working outdoors, and I am 4’11, 5’0 on a good day and ghost pale with a round face,” another person shared.
“What kind of reaction do you suppose she was hoping for?” someone wondered. “You to break down crying and beg forgiveness? Even if you were OMG TEEN MOM, berating you wouldn’t help anything.”
