My 13-Year-Old’s School Is Refusing To Teach Her if She Doesn’t Remove Her Nose Piercing

When it comes to school and dress code rules, some schools are stricter than others. Whether you are in a school that requires a particular uniform or has regulations about things like hair color and piercings, administrators expect parents and students to follow those rules or face the consequences. But not everyone likes to play nicely and pushes the limits whenever they can.

Maybe they do it to see how far they can go, or maybe it's for attention. Either way, it can create an extremely frustrating situation for everyone involved.

British TikToker Tink, who posts as @cherries_87, is no stranger to controversy when it comes to her daughter, Ruby. The mother and daughter have been known to push the limits at Ruby's school with things like hair color and a nose piercing. While these things are strictly forbidden, Tink has allowed Ruby to do them anyway, and now she says her daughter cannot attend school unless she follows the rules.

Tink says she tried to work with the school.

According to the mom, both Ruby and her cousin Maisie were reprimanded for having their noses pierced at school. Tink documented the moment in early summer of 2023 when Ruby first wanted the piercing. It started as a challenge for likes, and once the video hit the 25,000-like threshold, she'd allow Ruby to get the piercing.

Even though they knew it was against the school rules, the mother-daughter team promised to keep the piercing covered with a bandage until school was out.

The piercings are still causing drama.

Tink explained in a TikTok video posted on May 15 that the school told Ruby and Maisie they couldn't continue to wear studs in their noses to school. So Tink removed them and put in plastic retainers to keep the piercings open.

However, upon their return to school, the girls were promptly stopped and put into isolation for violating the rules.

Tink says the administration won't work with her.

According to the mom, the head teacher is new this year and will not even talk to her about the nose piercing. Instead, she's apparently in a meeting every time Tink tries to contact her. The mother is fed up.

"She's refused to even ring me, contact me or anything," Tink said. "This head teacher just stayed in her office whenever I'm there and refused to come out."

Tink doesn't think she is doing anything wrong.

The mother blames the entire situation on the school and seems to believe the administrators are failing her, Ruby, and Maisie.

"As a parent, I don't know what I should do because I obviously can't keep keeping my child out of school because it's going to be detrimental to her. But at the same time, I want her to be proud of who she wants to be and to look exactly how she wants to look. The school system is failing, and I don't know what to do," she said.

Her video has caused mixed reactions.

Some sided with her.

One person asked: "How is that even legal?? sorry but your Ruby seems like a sweet girl that wouldn't do no wrong in school so why is it a big deal hope you get this sorted."

Another agreed commenting: "I would go and sit at the school until she sees you! Especially outside her office if possible."

But others feel like she needs to just follow the rules.

This person commented that it was on Tink: "For the same reason, you can't get a job at some companies. A certified look must be achieved. Rules are rules You look a mess ."

This person agreed writing: "You are ridiculous, why would you do that. Girls are there to be educated also nose rings are dangerous at school. Follow the rules, you should know better."

In a follow-up video, Tink said she is looking for a new school and a fresh start. We can't wait to see how this goes.
