Parents Slammed for Bringing Kids to Adults-Only Wedding — They Caused Chaos

Weddings are a special time for the couple to revel in their love with their guests. When you're invited to a wedding, it's important to pay attention to details about time, place, and who exactly is invited. Just because an invitation to a wedding comes in the mail, it doesn't necessarily mean that everyone who lives in the home is invited to the ceremony or to the reception. When guests don't pay attention to those details, it can lead to disaster.

TikTok user Nick, who posts on the app as @nickfromohio, shared what he called a "wedding horror story" and pleaded with future wedding guests to read their invitations to see who is actually invited before attending. He recently attended an adults-only wedding where two uninvited kids ruined the black-tie event. Nick says this could have been avoided if the guests had followed proper etiquette.

These kids didn't have any business at this wedding.

Nick explains in his viral video that two separate adults brought young children who weren't invited to the wedding and then made a big spectacle of themselves. The first child ran out onto the dance floor during the couple's first dance and stole their special moment.

The couple apparently laughed it off, but they weren't pleased, and the bride's mother ended up going to get the child and dragging him off the floor so they could start their dance a second time.

The other kid's actions were evidently even worse.

If the dance debacle wasn't enough, the second child and mother went outside for a sparkler send-off for the bride and groom. Children and fire don't mix, and the second little child tried to touch the couple during the sparkler salute and ended up setting the bottom of the bride's gown on fire. They apparently got that fire out, but he soon dropped the sparkler and set the grass ablaze.

Nick says these kids ruined the event.

First, it was the bride and groom's first dance being upstaged, followed by a singed wedding dress. Nick was not impressed and admitted that even though he didn't know much about weddings, this was all a big no for him.

"These two children, who aren't supposed to be here, ruined the first dance and ruined the bride's dress. Which again, I don't know much about weddings, but I know that my mom still has her wedding dress, so I'm sure the bride isn't very happy," he explained.

He added that this all could have and should have been avoided. "If you read the wedding invitation card, it would have shown you that you didn't have a plus one and that no kids were allowed."

Plenty of people don't like kids at weddings.

Nick's TikTok has 5.4 million views, and people overwhelmingly agreed that kids and weddings don't mix.

"Omg. I have kids and grandkids but little kids do not belong at a wedding reception," one person wrote.

This one agreed, commenting, "Kids ruining weddings. Period. If parents bring them and I've been told not to, and they shouldn't be allowed in."

"I have 3 small children, I'll jump at any opportunity to go to a child free wedding ," one parent joked.

A few TikTokers think this was a huge deal.

Some TikTokers believe the bride and groom had some unfinished business.

This person wanted the parents to pay: “I would send that MOM a bill for my dress! Omg!!"

Someone else suggested suing. "If it's on the invitation, they can sue for damages to the dress, I've seen it done," the person wrote.
