Leggings, despite being an incredibly comfortable fashion option, are quite controversial. They’re form-fitting, and a lot of people seem to take issue with that, especially when women are wearing them. Some people will argue that women shouldn’t be revealing so much of their bodies. But sometimes, they really are the most appropriate bottoms to wear, as one female PE teacher recently pointed out.
The teacher shared a story on social media about being shamed by a mom for wearing leggings. Sadly, the mom believed the bottoms would be a distraction for young male students. But if a PE teacher can’t wear leggings to work, then who can?
She got called out first thing in the morning.
Baylee Javellas detailed the interaction on her TikTok. She explained that a mom called her out during morning drop-off. The mom rolled down her car window and asked Javellas, “Don’t you think you’re dressed a little inappropriately to be around young boys today?”
Wondering if maybe she misheard the woman, Javellas asked her to repeat herself. So she did. This time, she took it a step further commenting, “I think you can do better.” Then she drove off, leaving Javellas standing there, understandably shocked.

What exactly is she supposed to wear?
After recalling the interaction, Javellas showed off what she was wearing. The PE teacher was wearing a black T-shirt that “covers my backside,” black leggings, and sneakers. Nothing that would seem inappropriate for running around with kids during gym class.
“Maybe if I was standing there like this,” she said, pulling the shirt up to her waist and jutting her butt out. “But I wasn’t.”
If she can’t wear leggings to work, she wants to know, “any suggestions on what I should wear to teach P.E. would be great.”
‘This is 100% her problem, not yours.’
An overwhelming number of comments are supportive of Javellas and her outfit, suggesting that the mom has other reasons to be insecure about the teacher.
“What you’re wearing is completely fine but please show up dressed like Sue Sylvester tomorrow and video her reaction,” one person wrote, referencing the popular Glee character.
“This screams my husband stares at other women and I have no confidence,” another commenter suggested.
“Her husband has 💯 made a comment about how cute you look,” someone else added.
“I don’t know if this will help, but my gym teacher used to wear windbreakers and drink whiskey out of crystal glasses while yelling at us to run faster. maybe that’s what she had in mind,” another commenter joked.
“ORrRrrrr the son said something inappropriate about you and she’s trying to pin the blame on you instead of correcting the son,” a commenter believes.
