Natural Food Influencer Dies After Giving Birth to Son at Home Due to ‘Extremely Rare Complication’

Australian influencer Stacey Hatfield has died after having post-delivery complications, her husband shared. Hatfield, who had over 25,000 followers on Instagram, embraced a “natural” food lifestyle, encouraging her followers to cook with fresh and “real” ingredients. Hatfield didn’t share much of her face or her personal life on her Instagram, instead focusing on her delicious-looking meals. Her death comes as a shock to her followers, who are openly expressing support to her husband as he moves forward as a single father.

Hatfield’s husband, Nathan Warnecke, shared the news of his wife’s tragic death on her Natural Spoonfuls Instagram page.

“Its with heavy heart that I share with you the unexpected passing of my beautiful wife, soul mate and best friend, Stacey Warnecke (Hatfield),” he wrote.

According to Warnecke, his wife died on September 29, 2025, after “successfully” giving birth to the couple’s first child, son Axel, at home. “Tragically, shortly after, an unforeseen and extremely rare complication arose,” he wrote, sharing that she died after being taken to the hospital.

“Hospital staff were amazing and did the utmost to help, but ultimately nothing could be done despite their best efforts,” he wrote.

In his tribute, Warnecke explained that he had known Hatfield for nine years. He called her the “light of my life and the reason I got up in the morning,” as well as his “lighthouse in the storm.”

“The happiest day of my life was getting to marry her, my best friend, on a white sand beach in the Maldives,” he wrote.

According to the post, being a mom was Hatfield’s “biggest dream” and she was able to experience the pregnancy “exactly the way she always dreamed of doing it.” She “loved” being pregnant and “told our son she loved him everyday.”

“She held Axel when he was born, nursed him, saw that he was a boy and loved him. She loved him so much and still, continues to love him,” Warnecke wrote.

In a second post on the Natural Spoonfuls Instagram after Warnecke’s announcement, a friend of Hatfield’s shared a photo of Axel from the hospital, along with a GoFundMe account created by one of Warnecke’s family members.

“Stacey once told me how excited she was to see Nathan become a dad. She knew he would be gentle, devoted, and full of love. And she was right. Seeing Nathan step into fatherhood and witnessing firsthand the bond he shares with Axel is pure magic,” the post reads.

“Nathan was Stacey’s rock. He’s now navigating life as a single parent to Axel, their beautiful baby boy, who carries Stacey’s spark,” it continues. “Axel is surrounded by love, and we want to make sure Nathan has the time, space, and support to grieve, heal, and raise his son with the care Stacey dreamed of. Stacey and Nathan lived a quiet, love-filled life. They never would have asked for help. So I’m asking on their behalf. Nathan is stepping into fatherhood with unimaginable strength and grace.”

Money raised will go to funeral costs for Hatfield, costs related to raising a baby, household bills, and possible child care.

According to the GoFundMe, Warnecke works as a surveyor, often working the night shift to help build new roads. “The ability for Nathan to return to work in this capacity as a single father and the sole care giver to Axel is currently unrealistic,” the fundraiser reads.
