We all know that kids have the most incredible imaginations. Whether they’re coming up with make-believe scenarios to play with their friends, dreaming up fantasy worlds, telling creative stories, or inventing new games and products, kids are constantly inventing. Of course, as we get older and become more “practical,” we tend to get less imaginative. As parents know, though, imagination is an asset! Kids are inventive, innovative, creative, and clever — and we could all use a little more imagination in our daily lives.
As a brand that has imaginatively transformed the raisin into a range of whole fruit-based snacks that are both delicious and better-for-you, Sun-Maid recognizes how important it is to foster imagination. And while their quest to invent new whole fruit snacks continues, they are now further demonstrating their company-wide commitment to imagination by creating their first ever 'Board of Imagination.’ With the help of their parents, kids can apply to be on the ‘Board of Imagination’ and help Sun-Maid continue to push whole fruit’s possibilities through creativity!
What is the Sun-Maid Board of Imagination?

Sun-Maid will create its very first "Board of Imagination," bringing together some of its executive leadership team (who will have brand new imaginative job titles) with the most imaginative minds out there: kids.
Application Process

Kids (ages 6-12) can apply to be on the Sun-Maid Board of Imagination with their parents’ help. The initial application is a two-step questionnaire that gives kids the opportunity to show off their creativity, and demonstrate why they would make an excellent board member.
From there, Sun-Maid will narrow down the pool of applicants to a set of finalists who will be voted on by the public. Those with the most votes will be declared the winners, announced on Monday, 4/5.
Board of Imagination Members

Becoming a member of the Board of Imagination will be a huge accomplishment for kids. For a one year “term,” these kids will have the chance to share their imaginative ideas about new products and flavors with the Sun-Maid executive team, and even help with marketing! If that’s not cool enough, each winner will also receive a $5,000 scholarship, a $5,000 donation to their school, and a year’s supply of snacks for their school.
Imagination Day

As another tangible example of their commitment, Sun-Maid is also giving employees a day to celebrate imagination. This Imagination Day will take place on April 30, 2021 — also officially National Raisin Day — and as one of their first official Board duties, kid members will get a chance to brainstorm how Sun-Maid employees can spend their day!

2022 Updates
This year, the Board of Imagination is back and better than ever! In its second iteration, the Board of Imagination will give kids even more opportunities to get involved.
Just like last year, there will be five winners from the national competition. Winners will receive a $5,000 scholarship and $5,000 for their school — as well as a year’s worth of Sun-Maid Snacks.
Here's what's new in year two! The Board of Imagination will kick off with an in-person inauguration at Sun-Maid headquarters in Fresno, California. This year’s board members will be even more involved in product development and testing, and they’ll attend virtual board meetings throughout the year with Sun-Maid’s C-suite executives (like Harry Overly, Sun-Maid President, CEO & Chief Imagination Wrangler) and the actual Sun-Maid marketing team. The Board will receive engaging challenges and lots of exclusive swag and snacks.
Applications for year 2 open on Monday, 1/10/2022. Click here to help your imaginative kid apply!
