When parents purchase baby gear or toys for their kids, they assume the items are safe to use. However, that's not always the case. And one British mom is speaking out about something disturbing that happened with her son's toy.
Kelly Medina Enos, a mom of two, detailed a “really scary" incident she recently experienced. Somehow, a "fully-grown man" hacked her 4-year-old son's walkie-talkie. And now, the concerned mother is making sure other parents are aware of the risks.

Kelly posted a TikTok video to raise awareness about the risk of toy walkie-talkies.
On April 6, Kelly posted a TikTok video recounting a deeply concerning experience she recently had with a pair of toy walkie-talkies. "Something really scary happened to us last night, and I wanted to talk to you about it just in case you weren't aware," she told her followers. "I wanted to bring some awareness to it."
The night before, she heard a mysterious voice in her house.
She explained that she heard a strange noise while her son, George, was sleeping.
“We could quite clearly hear somebody talking,” Kelly said in the video. “We were like, alright, maybe somebody’s just having, like, a conversation, walked back from the pub or something, and they’re outside the front of our house having a chat.” She even checked her doorbell camera, but didn't see anyone outside of her house.

That's when she made the chilling discovery.
Suddenly, Kelly recalled that she and her son played with walkie-talkies earlier that day. One of them was left on, and the mother heard a man's voice saying, "Hello? Are you there? Hello, mommy." Immediately, Kelly said she turned off the toy and threw it in the trash.
Kelly also apologized for previously promoting the toy.
“Please don’t make the same mistake that I have,” Kelly warned in her video, noting the issue isn't just with a specific brand of walkie-talkies.
“So apparently, walkie-talkies all go on one frequency, and then the police, ambulance, whatever have a separate frequency,” she explained. “But anybody and everybody can get onto your child's walkie-talkie frequency. What the h—.”
Kelly also apologized for “not doing enough research” about the toys and then promoting the walkie-talkies before the creepy voice incident.
“If this educates more people, then I’m happy,” she said.

TikTok users shared similarly disturbing experiences.
Judging by the comments, strange people's voices coming through toy walkie-talkies is a fairly regular occurrence.
One TikTok user wrote: "Happened to me with my little one as well! Grown man came through saying I'm under the bed! Absolutely terrified me, they instantly went in the bin!"
"This happened with my daughters & we live next door to a police station," someone else shared. "We kept getting all the police updates."
Yet another TikTok user commented: "This is absolutely not your fault so don't feel bad. This exact thing happened to us a few years ago. My girls were playing and we heard a man through them. Absolutely shocking."
