Jaclyn Hill Addresses Shoddy Morphe Palettes In New ‘Let’s Talk’ Video

Jaclyn Hill has released a "My Truth" video. The apology video is the latest in a flood of beauty gurus and influencers addressing controversies, including racism, backstabbing, and lackluster products. In the video, Hill discusses her collaboration with Morphe and the fallout after a host of negative reviews, a delayed launch, and a product recall. Hill tried to take responsibility, but shirks a considerable amount of it, essentially alleging that it's Morphe's poor production and formula that caused the shoddy palettes.

You're probably aware that the beauty-guru beat is embroiled in a whole lot of drama lately. No one is safe...

Influencer Jaclyn Hill recently pushed back the launch date of a collaboration with Morphe, aptly named the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Vault palette, after an onslaught of horrendous reviews.

Some fans and influencers had early access to the palette and flooded social media with negative feedback. Morphe decided to delay the launch to improve on the production issues.

The response to the delay was mixed. Some people were angry; but others praised Morphe, which allegedly lost millions of dollars by withholding the palettes.

However, even after the new formula was released, fans were still upset with the quality.

Consumers on Twitter and Youtube were pretty upset about the quality (or lack thereof) of the Morphe x Jaclyn Hill Vault palette. One person compared the swatches Hill showed in her video with the real swatches they took; the results were not great.

Following in the footsteps of greats like Laura Lee, Gabriel Zamora, and Manny MUA, Hill released a 44-minute "Let's Talk" video.

In the video, Hill acknowledges that the palettes are shoddy.

"People are getting palettes that are not having good pigmentation, not swatching well. First of all, let me just say that this news broke my heart. It does not matter what I feel, what matters is that you guys are spending money on a palette and it should be exactly what I say, and what Morphe says, it should be what we promise," Hill said in the video.

Hill has told buyers to return the palettes, but claims in the video that only 1 percent of the palettes have been returned. This, to her, signifies that the palette is actually good and that people are just hating with their negative reviews.

"People who don't like me and want to pick me apart love to say all 'Jaclyn wants is money,'" she says. "I don't even know how much money I made off of this. Honestly."

"I do want to apologize to you guys for making you feel like I have been shoving Morphe down your throat recently. I have seen these comments quite a lot on social media," she says. "I completely get it."

Hill said she is taking a break from Morphe to focus on her channel.
