YouTube prank videos can rack up thousands of views online, and for YouTubers who work with advertisers, the promise of a viral video can mean a nice chunk of cash. But pranking videos are not always all fun and games. In fact, some people online are calling out parents for making videos of themselves pranking their kids, calling the dangerous stunts "child abuse." The latest instance causing outrage is a video that YouTuber CJ is So Cool made of himself putting children's laxatives into his kids' ice cream and then recording the results. The stunt not only horrified viewers online, but also last week got his channel banned for posting the inappropriate content.
Cordero James Brady posted the video of his kids suffering after he secretly crushed Pedia-Lax into their ice cream.
Brady's account, CJ is So Cool, has over 5.6 million followers on the video sharing site and his videos can often have view counts of 10 million and up. His most popular videos are ones where he "pranks" his kids, including videos like, "Fed the Kids Dog Doo Doo PRANK" and "I PUSHED YOUR KIDS APRIL FOOLS PRANK," where he pretends to have pushed his daughter, Karnation, down the stairs.
But in a video that was originally published in 2016 and has now gone viral, Brady takes things a step too far for some. According to The Daily Mail, the 29-year-old from Nevada has gotten himself into some serious trouble, after a video showing him putting children's laxatives into ice cream has some online calling the act "child abuse."
At the beginning of the video, Brady shows himself crushing up four Pedia-Lax pills in a pill crusher. The dad of one, who considers his girlfriend's three children his stepkids, then sprinkles the crushed-up concoction into the bottom of bowls — never once checking to make sure he was giving each child the recommended dosage.
He then uses a serving spoon to dole out the vanilla ice cream he had gotten for the prank and used his hands to blend the ice cream and pills together.
Brady then waits until his kids ask for an afternoon snack to feed them the doctored ice cream.
Three of the children seemed happy to be home from school for the day and to be getting the special treat. Little did they know that 90 minutes later, they'd be in horrible, horrible pain.
Brady's stepson Leonidas breaks down in tears once the medicine kicks in, wailing, "My stomach hurts."
Little Karnation is also left in tears, not knowing why she's in so much pain.
The dad even went so far as to follow his kids into the bathroom, where they wept as they suffered a brutal reaction to the medicine.
Last week, CJ's video had officially been scrubbed off of YouTube, The Daily Mail reported. And Brady's account has been suspended from publishing any new content, though his channel is still up and running.
"Child abuse," someone wrote under the video of the horrifying stunt.
"This guy should be in prison," said another.
And another user wrote in, "THATS MESSED UP CJ."
And YouTube is not the only organization to take action against the dad -- the police have also looked into the case.
A source from the Henderson Police Department from Henderson, Nevada, told The Daily Mail that there was a criminal investigation "involving laxatives and this individual" in 2016.
"It was a joint investigation with Clark County Child Protective Services. It was submitted to the DAs office and it was recommended as a criminal case," the source explained.
While it is unclear if official charges have been filed against Brady, the video was pulled offline after a reporter from Babe.net wrote a story about it. Causing officials at YouTube to take a look at CJ and his horrible prank.
A representative from YouTube sent a statement to Babe, writing that, "Content that endangers minors is unacceptable to us and we have strict policies prohibiting child endangerment and harmful and dangerous content. We remove content that violates our policies as soon as we’re made aware of it."
