A Maryland Transit Administration bus passenger says he made a shocking discovery after boarding the vehicle on June 1. The man claims he found a stillborn fetus seemingly hidden underneath a bonnet on the bus. Tragically, a second fetus was found on the bus a short time later. The incident shocked bus riders, who were concerned for the mother's welfare.
Eric Carver told WBAL he had just gotten on the bus after a 12-hour shift when he saw the fetus. Carver empathized with the mother's plight and said he just wanted her to get help.

A fetus was reportedly discovered mid-morning.
Per WBAL, Carver wasn't initially sure what he was looking at. He told the news station he saw the bonnet on the bus seat, but it took him a second to figure out what it was.
"Something told me, 'Look at that again.' I looked at it again and saw what it is, and I could tell you what went through my mind, but it probably wouldn't be good for the TV," he admitted.
Carver said he notified the bus driver of his discovery around 10 a.m.
Police were called to the scene sometime later.
According to the Baltimore Sun, police arrived on the scene around 12:30 p.m., and when officers arrived, they promptly found a second fetus on the bus. Both officers from the MTA Police and Baltimore Police's Eastern District and homicide unit responded. Homicide detectives reportedly called the event a "questionable death" rather than a homicide, the Baltimore Sun reported.
The fetuses were transported to the Officer of the Chief Medical Examiner.
Per the Baltimore Sun, the fetuses were both determined to be stillborn, but the time of gestation is unknown. Dr. Robert Atlas, chairman of Mercy Medical Center's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, said he hoped the mother of the babies was able to get proper aftercare.
"The concern I have for this individual is what happened to the afterbirth of the placentas? If they delivered, great. She probably is OK. If they didn't, having a retained placenta can be really problematic. That can lead to bleeding or infection, which can be deadly," Atlas said.

Carver was worried about the mom.
He told WBAL his main concern was for the mother of the babies. He hoped that police would have mercy on the woman and give her the care she needs.
"That was the first thing that came to my mind, not, 'Lock her up.' She needs help. She's in distress. She's in shock. There's absolutely no way that she could have that happen and not need help," he said.
Per the Baltimore Sun, the investigation is ongoing. The name of the mother was not released, and it is unclear whether she will face charges related to the incident.
