When children first come into the world, they have nothing to say about their personal aesthetic. For the first several years of their lives, they are relegated to wear the colors we, their parents, prefer. And they exist in environments that reflect our personal tastes. You may have noticed trends in baby decor tend to fluctuate. Where pink was once designated for girls and blue for boys, today many parents are taking on a more beige, gender neutral approach.
One mom took it a step further and skipped the baby decor completely. Instead, she decorated her toddler’s bedroom to look something like a country bed-and-breakfast.

Lucy Huber claimed she'd had enough of the internet after seeing one toddler's bedroom decor.
In a screenshot, one X user claimed that she had had enough of the internet after witnessing the surprisingly adult decor in a picture one mom shared of her 2-year-old’s bedroom.
Not only was it devoid of bright colors and toys, it featured a king-size bed. There are decorative figures on the two nightstands on either side of the bed.
The only indication that this room might belong to a child are the drawings of animals above the headboard and the guardrails hanging underneath the mattress. In the pictures swiped for discussion on X, the original mom poster wrote, “My 2 yr old’s bedroom. Read the caption to find out why.”

The mother said she chose a king-size bed so she could fit in it as well.
The X user who shared the image said that the reason this mom opted for a king-size was because she wanted to have enough room to “lie down next to him.” The explanation didn’t quite suffice for X users, and the rest of the thread was dedicated to people making fun of the bland and adult decor.
“Does the caption say, 'Because he doesn’t sleep in his room any damned way so we thought we’d make it a guest room?'” one user asked.
Some could appreciate the functionality of the design.
Some people did see the functionality of it though.
“King size bed is excessive and the rest of the room utterly sucks,” another user offered. “But I am Team Big Bed. Posting this from my kid’s queen size bed where the pre-sleep kicks barely even reach me.”
Another person argued that this room could actually work as long as it was used for just sleeping and the child had a more colorful, kid-friendly play room. The original poster agreed saying, “There’s nothing inherently wrong with this. It’s just … unsettling.”
Most people did not approve at all.
Others made a point to note that not only was the decor not kid-friendly, it was old-fashioned.
One person commented: “If you just added a giant Mary statue, this would be my 68 y/o mother’s room. Lol. These moms are really wildin.’”
There were additional comments about the ridiculousness of such a room for a child.
“The art is hung at such a high level it’s making me sick,” another user shared. “And the scale and spacing of it is so off!!! Call the gallows.”
“Love a fabric headboard for someone not fully in control of their bodily fluids,” offered another.
To be honest, we never would have guessed this was a toddler's room, but perhaps the mom was simply hoping to create a bedroom that would grow with her child. Either way, it does seem odd, but hey, as long as he sleeps well!
