One mom on TikTok recently decided to cut open the back of her sofa and shockingly discovered 13 years' worth of lost items and kids' toys buried inside. Anyone with children can certainly relate when trying to find a particular item in the house that seems to have disappeared without a trace. Kacie, who goes by @kacieandco on TikTok, is clearly not afraid to show viewers the wholesome, messy, and sometimes embarrassing moments of being a mom.
"When you go hunting for the remote and end up performing emergency surgery on your sofa … only to find the most dreadful abyss that is 13 years of raising children ," the TikToker shared in the caption of her video.
Kacie seemingly went to extreme measures to look for the remote.
Every mom knows how frustrating a lost remote can be and can totally relate. The beginning of the video shows Kacie sitting on the floor behind her couch. She uses a knife to slice open the bottom of the furniture piece, thinking the remote must have fallen deep in the creases of the couch. When she reaches the opposite end and lifts the flap, a large pile of toys, clothes, and trash starts spilling onto the floor.
Clearly shocked, Kacie looks at the camera as she holds open the flap, revealing the surprising discovery to her viewers. Moments later, her son can be seen running over to her and pulling out an action figure he must have lost a long time ago. After retrieving the item, he turns to the camera with the toy in his hand and throws it back into the pile.
Kacie continued to look through the pile of rediscovered items.
In a subsequent post, the TikToker shared the same video with the original sound and reaction from her family. When Kacie starts cutting open the back of the couch, a girl can be heard in the background saying, "I'm scared," while a man was laughing.
"Oh my God, what is that?" the man, presumably Kacie's husband, says in the background.
Another person says, "This is disgusting! This is disgusting!" in the 23-second clip.
The family's reaction was priceless, and Kacie even found one of her children's pacifiers amongst the unearthed items.
TikTokers shared their thoughts and reactions to the family's surprise discovery.
"Couch haul is ESSENTIAL. I need to know what was in there. And what fights started cause you has lost something in it and thought the other took it ," one user wrote.
"I NEEEED to know what all was in there my life depends on it," another user noted.
Other users were begging to know what else was in the stack of items and if Kacie ever found the remote.
"We must know all the treasures you found," a third user wrote.
The TikTokers petitioned for another clip, hoping Kacie and her family would reveal all the items found inside the couch. We're actually kind of curious too.
