Bryan Tanaka Speaks Out With ‘Mixed Emotions’ for the First Time Since Mariah Carey Split

Unfortunately, it looks like the rumors about this celebrity breakup were true. Days after rumors that Bryan Tanaka and Mariah Carey had gone their separate ways caught fire online, fans have the confirmation they'd been waiting for. Bryan has released a statement on his split from Mariah after seven years of dating, admitting that he has "mixed emotions" about the whole thing. After such a long relationship, it's no surprise this is coming with a big adjustment for him.

Bryan shared a statement about the split on Instagram.

"With mixed emotions, I share this personal update regarding my amicable separation from Mariah Carey after seven extraordinary years together," he wrote. "Our decision to embark on different paths is mutual, and as we navigate these separate journeys, we do so with profound respect and an overwhelming sense of gratitude for the invaluable time we’ve shared. The memories we’ve created and the artistic collaborations are etched in my heart forever."

Fans have been wondering for weeks if Bryan and Mariah had split.

The first hint that there was trouble came when fans noticed that Bryan was missing from Mariah's Merry Christmas One and All! tour. Then, when he didn't join her to celebrate the holidays in Aspen like he normally does, the writing was on the wall.

As it turns out, the speculation was for good reason.

The couple reportedly disagreed about their future plans.

According to what a source told Page Six, Bryan, who is 40, reportedly wanted children, but Mariah, who is 54, was done having children now that her twins, Monroe and Moroccan, are 12 years old.

"He wants to have a family. That’s not where she is at," the source said, with a different insider adding, "He wants to start having his own life."

Mariah and Bryan had been together since 2016.

They've known each other for a lot longer than that, though. The former couple first met when Bryan became one of Mariah's backup dancers in 2006, and the rest is history.

Now, things are officially over after they've spent nearly 20 years in each other's lives.

So far, Mariah hasn't spoken out on the split.

Mariah hasn't issued a statement of her own just yet, but from what Bryan said in his Instagram post, it sounds like their breakup has been as amicable as possible.

"Mariah's dedication to her family and her commitment to her craft have inspired us during our shared journey," Bryan wrote on Instagram. "I want to express my love and appreciation for Mariah and her incredible children, whose warmth and kindness have enriched my life in ways words cannot capture."
