Mom Fears Daughter Is Dead After a Child’s Remains Were Found Buried in Adoptive Parent’s Yard

A mom in Kansas believes the remains of a child found buried in a Rose Hill backyard belong to her daughter. Christa Helm gave up custody of her three daughters, Ashtan, Rickie, and Natalie, during a battle with substance abuse in 2018. The mother desperately wanted her girls to have a better life but believes instead that they lived a nightmare. Helm is certain the remains found on the property are Natalie’s.

The grieving mother told KSN that she gave a DNA sample to investigators in the hope of positively identifying the child. Rose Hill Police Chief Taylor Parlier confirmed that Helm is the biological mother of the children living in the home. He claimed those found inside are safe. Parlier would not confirm how many children were inside, leaving Helm to believe her worst nightmare has come true.

The mother was reportedly in a bad place when her children were young.

According to a GoFundMe account set up by Helm’s friend, Jessica Pilcher, Helm found herself unable to care for her girls several years ago. Pilcher explains that the mother never hurt her children but did make some bad choices. Helm gave up custody, and a woman reportedly adopted them. Sadly, it seems no one has seen Natalie in quite some time.

“They have since found a body in this woman’s back yard and it is believed to be christas daughter Natalie. She has been gone for around 4 years, buried in the yard where, her sisters Ashtan and Rickie have been forced to live with the monster that got rid of their sister,” Pilcher wrote on the page.

Helm is convinced the remains belong to Natalie.

The grieving mother told KSN that a detective allegedly told her that two of her daughters were safe but one was missing. “It’s disgusting, it hurts. How did my daughter end up in there, and what happened to her, to be able to be so buried,” Helm said.

Thinking about someone burying her child and pretending nothing was wrong disgusts her. “They had to be playing in that backyard, where their sister was, and they had no idea, and if they did, how and why,” Helm shared.

Police have revealed few details.

Parlier gave very little information regarding the case but expressed his dedication to finding the person responsible.

“The only thing keeping me from falling down into sadness is the anger I have toward whoever did that to that individual. I can tell you there’s nothing else more important in my world now than finding out who is responsible,” Parlier told KSN.

Helm hopes to regain custody of her daughters.

She told KSN that she wants her girls to know how much she cares about them.

“Their mom loves them, I always will, I’ve lived, I’ve learned, there are a lot of things I didn’t know when they were little, and I was young. I can’t imagine seeing their faces in this tragedy is the worst way possible, but God creates miracles and brings families back together in ways you can’t expect,” Helm said.

She wishes to get custody so they can all live together again. The GoFundMe page hopes to raise enough money to cover legal expenses. So far, they’ve raised $570, with a goal of $10,000.

“We need to find thes girls ASAP they need to be brought home to us, their full, real family, that loves them and will never hurt them. We have lost Natalie we can’t lose them too. Please help us all the help we can get,” the fundraiser reads.
