When Jill Duggar showed off her latest hair transformation, it raised eyebrows … and not necessarily in a good way! On Tuesday, Jill took to Instagram to debut her new hairstyle, showing off her brand new (and very long) dreadlocks. While some of the former Counting On star’s followers weren’t shy about sharing how much they adore her look, others truly aren’t holding back when it comes to just how much they hate it.

On Monday, Jill shared a video of herself showing off her new (clip-in) dreadlocks in the mirror, adding even more flair to her hairstyle with a few braids of her own (real) hair.
“I did a thing today! Added a little summer happy to my hair and I’m loving it!” she wrote in her caption.
Her comments are filled with messages from people who adore it.
Most of the comments on Jill’s post are from people who believe that the new look is so her, especially since she tends to lean toward the more boho, hippie side of things when it comes to her fashion choices.
“Oh that totally suits you!!!” one fan wrote. “I love it!”
Another commenter wrote: “Dreads and braids fit your style so much, girl! They look perfect on you!”
Critics have a different view of her hair, though.
Over on Reddit, critics wasted no time calling Jill out for her hair. Not only did some people accuse her of cultural appropriation, but they also cracked plenty of jokes at her expense.
“It’s cool seeing Jill get basically the same hairstyle I got on a cruise when I was 6,” one person wrote.
Others defended her, with one person chiming in, “Honestly I think she is trying live her life. She never got the opportunity to be herself and I think this is her trying [to] relive stuff she missed. Like ‘fun’ hairstyles.”
Jill seems happy with the change.
And it’s a good thing she is, too, since she shared in her caption that her new, long dreadlocks were a birthday gift from husband Derick Dillard, and they cost a pretty penny!
Derick bought the extensions from a brand called Dreadfull Hippie, and the type Jill has come in at around $140, so it’s definitely a bit of a splurge for those hoping to steal her look.
Jill’s cousin, Amy Duggar, definitely seems to be a fan, according to the comment she left on her post: “My little hippie chick! It looks SO good! I love that you are free to be yourself!”
