Josh Duggar doesn’t seem to have given up on trying to get his prison sentence overturned after he was convicted of possessing and receiving child sexual assault material in December 2021, but this latest update makes it sound like that’s probably a pipe dream for him. Not only did a judge recently deny Josh a court-appointed attorney to appeal his case again, but now, his prison release date has been pushed back – again.
This week, The Sun reported that Josh will now be stuck behind bars at Texas federal prison facility FCI Seagoville until December 23, 2032, which is more than two months after his most recently scheduled release date. Yikes!
So far, there’s no word on the reason for his delayed departure, but this is the second time it’s been pushed back since he began serving his sentence in 2022. Originally, he was set to complete his 12-year sentence on August 12, 2032, but then, it was pushed back to October 2, 2032.
The first time his release was rescheduled appeared to be a disciplinary action, tied to Josh being found with a contraband cellphone back in February 2023. At the time, he was also placed in the special housing unit.
FCI Seagoville is at the center of a lawsuit after it was accused of forcing prisoners to live in “inhumane conditions, as The Sun previously reported. In the most recent complaint, which was filed in February 2025, one inmate claimed he was forced to live in a cell infested with mold.
“Keep asking to move cells that have less mold or no mold at all, they act like they don’t hear me,” he said. “Grand Prairie say they take staff misconduct seriously but still treating me the same way. I haven’t even had a chance to see my daughter in person.”
Last month, a source told The Sun that prisoners were being limited on how much money they could spend at the commissary after an inmate allegedly played “a nasty, serious prank” on one of the guards.
“Now everyone is on a $25 commissary limit. They usually have a $360 limit a month,” the insider said at the time. “They are also locking them down at least two days a week.”
