Farrah Abraham’s Daughter Cuts Ties With Grandparents, But Mom Insists Family Drama Is Over

During her years on Teen Mom, it was no secret that Farrah Abraham had a turbulent relationship with her parents, Debra Danielsen and Michael Abraham. There have been plenty of ups and downs, but on the show, they always seemed to be pretty present in Farrah’s daughter Sophia’s life. But now, things have changed, according to what Sophia said when she and her mom appeared on Kailyn Lowry‘s Barely Famous podcast.

While talking to Kail, the topic of where Farrah and Sophia stand with her parents came up, and while Sophia said that she’s still in contact with her grandparents on late dad Derek Underwood’s side, that isn’t true for her grandparents on her mom’s side.

The good news? It sounds like it was totally Sophia’s choice to cut off contact. “And I’m fine with that,” she said.

Farrah doesn’t seem to be close with Michael and Debra either, though she did tell Kail that things are “cordial” between them. Now, she said, she’s focusing on setting “boundaries that are healthy” in their relationship and no longer supports them financially.

“When I now check in with them, they have their own lives, it’s not codependence, it’s not unhealthy, it’s not integrated, it’s not a mess anymore,” she said. “They have their own identities, they have their own lives, they don’t rely on me to support them in any way.”

Sophia, who is now 16, also offered an update on her personal life. She told Kail she loves homeschooling, and has still managed to have a social life — and a boyfriend — even though she’s no longer attending school in person.

“Honestly, I have a lot of friends, mostly online like, gaming and stuff,” Sophia said. “But I do still have a lot of friends from public school and private school.”

And when it comes to her boyfriend, it sounds like Farrah approves. She called him a “great boyfriend” and said she even flies out to Utah with Sophia so the two can have time together.

Sounds like things are going well for these two, even if their time on MTV is long behind them.
