This month, Britney Spears has spent a lot of time fighting back against the claims that ex-husband Kevin Federline has made about her in his new memoir, You Thought You Knew. And now that the book is in stores, Britney is continuing to speak her truth — this time, in an Instagram post where she said she has suffered “brain damage” from the “traumatic” experience she went through towards the end of her conservatorship.
In her post, Britney is riding a horse with her back to the camera, and she included a lengthy caption that seems to have been inspired by a scene from Angelina Jolie‘s movie, Maleficent, that showed the title villain losing her wings — something that the pop star can sympathize with.
“I had a traumatic experience as some of you know at the end of my book where for 4 months I no longer had my private door and illegally was forced to not use my feet or body to go anywhere,” Britney wrote. “For a person like me who understands the sacredness is god speed … it did more than hurt my body.”
Britney went on to say that she couldn’t “dance or move” for five months, which she believes “murdered and destroyed” the connection between her body and her brain and her ability to be mindful.
“I do feel like my wings were taken away and brain damage happened to me a long time ago 100 percent,” Britney continued. “I have of course moved on from that troubling time in my life and I’m blessed to be alive.”
Though she didn’t elaborate further on that difficult time, she did seem to hint at Kevin’s book in the conclusion to her post.
“It’s fun to tell stories at this point because this all might sound so silly but with what garbage literally is being said about me I said why not bring SUBSTANCE to the table,” she wrote.
Now that Kevin’s book is out in the world, maybe Britney will finally get a bit of a break from the constant accusations that her ex has been making towards her … but if we know Britney, she won’t be afraid to continue to speak up if she needs to.
