Jeremiah Beauprey had a brief and challenging life. He was born in August 2013 and died in December 2025. Jeremiah lived with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a rare and devastating fatal genetic condition. Throughout his 12 years, the Wisconsin resident faced tremendous adversity with bravery and heart. Jeremiah loved to cheer on the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers. He also loved his family, including his mother, Tina Beauprey. Following Jeremiah’s death, hospital staff called police to investigate, and what they uncovered will break your heart.
The Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, Police Department began investigating Jeremiah’s death shortly after his passing at SSM Health St. Agnes Hospital. Police noted in a news release posted to social media that from the moment they received the call, the child’s death became a “top investigative priority.” WLUK reported that prosecutors alleged Beauprey didn’t feed Jeremiah, resulting in his death.
During a court appearance on January 28, Fond du Lac County Assistant District Attorney Kristin Menzl, claimed 51-year-old Beauprey neglected her son during an extended period of time, WLUK reported.
“It appeared that during these last years, specifically, that there was care not being provided to the child, including a lack of food. The victim’s health declined significantly in about the two days prior to his death,” Menzl said, according to the outlet. “At that time, the defendant did not seek out any medical care for the victim, even though it was obviously he was declining.”
Beauprey’s attorney, Michael Queensland, claimed Duchenne muscular dystrophy caused Jeremiah’s weight loss. He reportedly weighed just 54 pounds at the time of his death.
“The family had been informed that the child was terminally ill. He was going to lose weight. And soon, was going to need a feeding tube,” Queensland argued.
Following Beauprey’s arrest, Fond du Lac Police Lieutenant Nicholas Hahn shared gratitude with those working to get justice for Jeremiah.
“This was an incredibly complex and heartbreaking case. Our team worked tirelessly to uncover the truth and ensure accountability. We remain committed to seeking justice for the victim and providing a measure of closure for the community,” he shared in the department’s news release. Judge Laura Lavey set Beauprey’s bond at $500,000.
Those who loved Jeremiah will remember him as an “inspiration.”
“Jeremiah was a simple guy, never asking for much. A McDonald’s chicken nugget Happy Meal was his most requested treat and never failed to light up his face,” his obituary read. “This Christmas, the only thing he wanted was College Football 26 for his PS5. Every time we encouraged him to add more to his list, he would simply smile and say, ‘College Football 26…that’s all,’ in the sweetest, most sincere way.”
Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a brutal, fatal disease. This sweet little boy already had a death sentence. For anyone to speed up that process is truly barbaric. If Beauprey really neglected and starved him to death, perhaps she should face the same fate.
