What to Know
Does anyone actually think the CEO of McDonald’s, Christopher Kempczinski, eats McDonald’s food on a regular basis? No, probably not. But as the CEO of the company, and a face of the restaurant chain, he should probably be able to fake it better than anyone. Now, a video of the McDonald’s executive trying the Big Arch burger has gone viral, and no one is letting him off the hook for his so-called review of the burger.
In the video, which is no longer on the official McDonald’s TikTok account but is on Kempczinski’s Instagram, he has a Big Arch meal in front of him. He calls the burger a “product,” and he takes the tiniest bite imaginable. In the caption of the video on Instagram, the CEO wrote, “The Big Arch might be my new go-to lunch order. Who else is counting down the days until it’s in a store near you?” Sure, Jan. And don’t even get me started on the fact that no one asked for a burger to overshadow the iconic Big Mac.
No one thinks the McDonald’s CEO actually ate a real bite of the Big Arch.
@garron_music He clearly loves it

After Kempczinski takes a bite, he shows where he “attacked” the burger and says he took a “big bite” for the big burger, which seems to be a cross between a Big Mac and the Burger King Whopper with its own McDonald’s flair to it. But the actual burger isn’t what people are talking about. Instead, they are kind of obsessed with Kempczinski’s small bite, non-human-like reactions to the meal, and the overall vibe of the review video.
One user on TikTok who commented on a TikTok with a copy of the video in it and said, “It’s giving ‘how much longer must I address the poors?'” Given that Kempczinski barely takes a bite, that might be the most astute observation of his Big Arch review.
“Calling it ‘the product’ is the most hilarious and off-putting terminology,” someone else commented.
Another user joked, as if saying what the CEO is thinking, “I am going to eat this for lunch because I am a human man who consumes food at mid day.”
Clearly, the idea here is that Kempczinski wants to make sure people know how hashtag relatable he is. His Instagram has other reviews where he allegedly eats full McDonald’s meals for his office lunches. Not only do people find that hard to believe, but now they are convinced that if Kempczinski can’t stomach full bites of McDonald’s burgers, should they?
“He looks absolutely terrified to be in the same room as the food,” someone pointed out.
Also, where did he order from, because the entire meal looks subpar, to be honest.
If you’re going to review a meal from McDonald’s under the assumption that you are going to gas up the meal the entire time, then maybe make sure it looks totally appetizing. The meal that Kempczinski has in front of him shows a half-full carton of fries in addition to his drink and Big Arch burger.
We’ve all been shafted when it comes to McDonald’s fries. But for the CEO, apparently, he is subject to the same fry discrepancy. It’s also telling that the video he posted, where he takes a tiny bite that does little to actually help him taste the Big Arch, is the best take possible.
Burger King’s president did it too, but, um, better.
@burgerking Yeah, our president really gave out his number. And yeah, this really is your feedback on the Whopper. Now we’re working on perfecting it, because you asked. Thanks!

Tom Curtis, the president of longtime McDonald’s competitor Burger King, posted a TikTok video of his own where he tries the Whopper. Whatever the setup was to get him at what appears to be a Burger King location and near the assembly line for orders, he wastes little time in taking a hearty bite that even leaves some of the mayonnaise on his face. Kempczinski should be taking notes, to be honest.
