What to Know
It doesn’t look like Paris Jackson‘s lawsuit against those who are handling the finances involved in late father Michael Jackson’s estate is going to come to an end anytime soon. After voicing her concern about the way the money in the estate was being handled over the summer, Paris is still embroiled in the legal battle, and now, she’s claiming that the estate and their attorneys are simply trying to make this situation as tough as possible for her to handle.
Paris filed the first round of legal documents in June 2025.
According to court documents obtained by People, Paris objected to the estate paying out $625,000 to three different law firms for hours that had not been billed — something she referred to as “premium payments” — and claimed that two of the firms had been paid in full despite the fact that the court wasn’t supposed to offer more than partial payment until the amount had been formally approved.
Paris’ filing stated that she was concerned the estate was handing out “wasteful, six-figure gift-giving to themselves and their colleagues.”
The estate has been fighting back.
Since then, the estate has filed a motion requesting $115,000 in fees for the time the executors, John McClain and John Branca, have spent responding to Paris’ court filings after a judge shut down her request for a motion involving the way the money in the estate had been spent.
At the time, Paris’ spokesperson said in a statement to People, “It’s no surprise the executors and their lawyers are using every tool at their disposal to take even more money from the Jackson family and use it to line their own pockets. Paris remains undeterred and will continue fighting for transparency, accountability and fairness for her family.”
Recently, Paris responded again.
On February 26, Paris’ latest court filing accused McClain and Branca of trying to make this legal battle “as expensive and time-consuming as possible” for her as it continues to play out in the legal system.
“Executors allowed two of the same law firms who received improper payments to attack Paris… For this self-interested work, Executors paid these law firms an additional $115,355.52 in attorneys’ fees and costs,” Paris’ attorney wrote in the motion, adding, “The SLAPP [lawsuit] was a waste of resources that executors had a duty to avoid and likely could have avoided.”
Paris has reportedly received $65 million as a beneficiary of her dad’s estate. Her brothers, Bigi and Prince, are also named beneficiaries.
