What to Know
One way to double check that people who hate Donald Trump still hate Erika Kirk is to give her a job that no one thinks she deserves. So when Trump bestowed on Charlie Kirk’s widow a spot on the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors, critics were just a bit outraged. Sure, she’s the CEO of her company, Turning Point USA, and no one was ever going to assume she would leave that position, which she isn’t.
But no one expected Erika to be given a role in the U.S. government, even if it isn’t as high profile as other roles in Trump’s inner circle. Still, people aren’t happy about it, and when Fox News shared details about it in a post on X (formerly Twitter), Erika’s loudest haters made sure they were heard in the comments.
Erika Kirk was actually given a government position by Trump.
NEW MISSION: President Trump appoints Erika Kirk to serve on the U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors — taking the position her late husband, Charlie, was slated to hold before he was assassinated in September.

Now Erika joins the panel that oversees morale, discipline,… pic.twitter.com/4m4o3j1Xia
Erika is listed on the official U.S. Air Force Academy Board of Visitors’ website as someone appointed by Trump. Not only is this advisory board in charge of keeping the Air Force Academy’s morale and discipline in top shape, but also of making recommendations to the secretary of war. According to USA Today, Charlie once served on the board. Erika is apparently taking his place.
Someone commented on the Fox News X post with, “Hiring unqualified cronies is objectively way worse than the DEI you all complained about so much.”
Although other board members include retired soldiers, Erika is clearly less qualified than most, even with her work with Turning Point USA. No one wants her to forget that, either.
“Make this make sense!!” Someone else commented on the X post. “I do not get Trump these days, I am so confused with all this! It still doesn’t change the fact [that] more people than not feel like she is guilty in some way. This country is no longer… Sad!!”
Another user wrote, “Trump only hires people he knows will help him steal. The fact that they’re completely unqualified doesn’t even weigh in with these idiots.
Someone else pointed out that “This is not what Charlie would have wanted at all.” They cited some of his public comments about women neglecting their families for “corporate” jobs. It’s not exactly what Erika is doing, but it’s pretty close.
Erika Kirk’s position doesn’t pay anything…for now.
Okay. I think we need to credibly draw a distinction between Erika and Charlie. She isn’t qualified to do everything he did just because she was his wife.https://t.co/gFmYbIEYsY

Although Erika’s role on the board for the Air Force Academy does make a difference in her potentially shaping decisions, it is not a paid position, so there’s that, at least. If some of her more dedicated haters want to point out that she might be making tax payers’ money on top of taking a position they don’t think she’s qualified for, they can rest easy knowing Erika is not taking home a paycheck for being on the board.
Per Stars and Stripes, Erika’s job (if you can even call it that), is a civilian oversight role.
In response to the announcement, someone wrote in an X post, “Okay. I think we need to credibly draw a distinction between Erika and Charlie. She isn’t qualified to do everything he did just because she was his wife.”
She was accused of taking Charlie Kirk’s place and removing his social media videos.
If it wasn’t enough that Erika is working on a board that hits pretty close to home for many, some of her critics think she is only too happy to pick up where Charlie left off despite him being her husband and the father of her children. Someone, who might have at one point even been supportive of her, commented on the Fox News X post to share just that.
They wrote, “If she is standing up for Charlie, continuing what Charlie started? Why did she remove all his videos? It’s like he never existed. She just replaced him. Everything about her has been proven a lie. Icky.”
