North West Lands Role in Disney’s ‘Lion King’ Live Special & People Have a Lot of Opinions

Given who her parents are, it was probably only a matter of time before North West found herself on a stage. The tween is going to be hitting the stage of Los Angeles' famed Hollywood Bowl to perform as a part of a live performance to celebrate the 30th anniversary of 1994's The Lion King. North will be sharing the stage with some pretty famous names and faces, which is still a big deal, even if your mom is a Kardashian. Even though she has shown as interest in performing in the past, people are having a lot of feelings about North's inclusion in the special.

According to a press release shared by People, North will be playing an undisclosed role in the special, called Disney’s The Lion King 30th Anniversary – A Live-to-Film Concert Event. Performers from different versions of The Lion King will be featured, including actors Nathan Lane, Ernie Sabella, Jason Weaver, and Jeremy Irons from the original film. Billy Eichner, who voiced Timon in the live action remake will also appear, as will Broadway performer Heather Headley. Singer Jennifer Hudson will also be making a special guest appearance.

Tickets are currently on sale.

The press release explained that the show will "celebrate the 30-year evolution of The Lion King," which includes the 1994 film, the Tony Award winning 1998 Broadway musical and the 2019 live action remake.

Disney’s The Lion King 30th Anniversary – A Live-to-Film Concert Event is a two-night event that will happen on Friday May 24 and 25. If you live in Los Angeles, tickets for the event are now on sale. For those who aren't in LA, the special will air on Disney+ sometime this year.

Is this just the latest nepo baby stunt?

Naturally, people are having feelings about North's inclusion in the special, with many saying that this is just the latest example of a "nepo baby" being given an opportunity for publicity.

"This is what nepotism looks like," a comment on Good Morning America's Instagram read.

Another comment read: "Nepo babies only getting things because of their parents! Way to achieve in this world!"

"Proving you just need money and connections, not talent," someone tweeted.

Some people are sticking up for her though.

"She will do amazing!" one person on Instagram wrote.

A tweet read: "North West in the Lion King at the Hollywood Bowl? period North getting to that bag."

"Kid's got more career milestones than I do and she's only 10, lol," another person joked via tweet.

North has big dreams.

Earlier this year, North became one of the youngest artists to chart on the Billboard Hot 100 thanks to a feature on dad Kanye West's song "Talking."

Last year in an interview with i-D, she revealed that one of her career goals is "a rapper." But she also plans to "own Yeezy and SKIMS," which are currently owned by her parents.
