4-Year-Old Dies With BAC 8 Times Legal Limit After Grandmother Allegedly Forced Booze as Punishment

China Record died on April 21, 2022, just two weeks after her fourth birthday. The little girl didn’t die from a rare disease or sudden accident. Instead, China lived her last moments drinking a bottle of Canadian Mist whiskey. This wasn’t by choice but as a punishment. China’s grandmother, Roxanne Record, allegedly forced China to drink a lethal amount of alcohol as her mother, Kadjah Record, reportedly sat by and did nothing to help her child. As the women face murder charges, China’s extended family feels guilt for failing her.

China reportedly experienced long-term abuse.

According to court documents obtained by Fox News, prosecutors claim China became a repeat target of abuse. Her siblings were brainwashed to believe that China was “stealing” as she tried to stay alive with basic necessities. The day she died, China took a drink from a bottle of whiskey on the counter. It’s not clear why she chose that bottle, but it reportedly enraged Roxanne Record. The grandmother allegedly then forced the child to finish 1.6 pints of the 80-proof liquor.

China became unresponsive.

Unsurprisingly, the alcohol rendered China unresponsive. Paramedics arrived at the family’s Baton Rouge, Louisiana, home and found the 4-year-old girl lifeless, according to court documents obtained by Fox News. After her death, an autopsy revealed a blood alcohol content of 0.68, which is more than eight times the legal limit for an adult. Assistant District Attorney Dana Cummings made a somber statement in court about China’s final moments. “She… just went on with daily life while she died,” Cummings said.

China’s death broke the hearts of her extended family.

Ebony Record, the sister of Kadjah and daughter of Roxanne Record, told KAKE the entire family should take responsibility for the little girl’s death. “I should take blame too. I know what type of person my mom is. I know how my mom felt about China,” she said.

According to Ebony Record, Roxanne Record abused her and Kadjah physically, emotionally, and verbally when they were children and continued that pattern with her grandchildren. Ebony Record admitted that fear of her mother’s actions kept her from contacting the police in her own defense or China’s.

“We were never going to tell. Now it’s sad that it took a body for people to know what’s going on over here,” Ebony Record admitted, per KAKE. “I’m 30 years old, and it took for my niece to die for me to speak out against my own mother.”

Now that China’s gone, Ebony Record doesn’t want her mother to ever have the chance to hurt another person.

“She’s not getting out. She’s going to pay for what she did because you took beyond too far,” the daughter said.

Ebony Record added that Kadjah lost her childhood and then her own child to her mother’s alleged abuse. As far as she’s concerned, that’s enough.

“My sister already gave 28 years and a baby. Why should she have to give the rest of her life,” she asked KAKE.

China Record may finally get justice after her death.

Roxanne Record faces first-degree murder charges. If convicted, she’ll be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. As for Kadjah Record, she also faces murder charges and should stand trial later in 2026.

According to her daughter, Roxanne Record wasn’t a mother — she was a monster. If that’s true, the world will be a safer place with her behind bars.
