Man Discovers Partner & Newborn Dead on Bathroom Floor Hours After Home Birth Apparently Goes Wrong

A woman’s body is expertly designed to conceive, carry, and birth babies. Even though it’s a natural process, that does not mean dangers and complications don’t exist. Hundreds of women die every day around the world during or soon after childbirth. Modern medicine can help prevent these types of tragedies, but not all women have access to hospitals or birthing centers, and some families prefer to welcome their babies in the comfort of their own homes.

Even though this is a deeply personal decision, many who actually work in medicine urge women to consider giving birth in the presence of a medical professional on the outside in case something goes wrong. The family of Monika Kubasiewicz knows this pain only too well.

Kubasiewicz died at her home in Ireland.

Kubasiewicz, a Polish woman living in Greenhill Village in Carrick-on-Suir in County Tipperary, died on May 8, 2026, following a home birth, per the Irish Times. The 30-something mother’s partner found her and the baby unresponsive in a bathroom. He reportedly called gardaí, the national police force of the Republic of Ireland, for help. Emergency responders declared the mother and newborn dead at the scene.

Kubasiewicz reportedly had other young children.

According to the Irish Independent, Kubasiewicz died from a medical emergency while giving birth. A neighbor told Irish media outlet Crime World that the family had two older children.

“It’s such a tragedy,” the neighbor said. “I knew her and the kids, a little boy and a little girl, the boy used play with our daughter. She was a good mother anyway, I do know that much.”

A neighbor told Crime World that Kubasiewicz’s death came as a shock and devastating blow.

“But this would break your heart. Their whole lives were just starting,” the neighbor told the news outlet. “It was only yesterday evening that we got the full detail of what happened. We heard she haemorrhaged while having the baby and then passed. Jesus Christ, it’s just heartbreaking.”

A local government official urged people not to speculate.

David Dunne took to Facebook to remind residents not to discuss the family’s devastating loss.

“There has been a tragedy in Carrick on Suir. I would ask people not to speculate on what happened and not to share anything they are hearing or has been sent to them,” Dunne wrote.

“Remember that the last thing a heartbroken family needs when there is a sudden traumatic death at home is a gang of onlookers taking photos,” someone commented on the post.

“Rest in peace, my heart goes out to the family and friends of those involved in this tragedy, may they find strength in this difficult time,” another person added.

According to multiple media outlets, including the Irish Times, officials will not release the results of a post-mortem report.

This is such a sad story. No mother should lose her life and her baby in such a tragic way.
