What to Know
Ever since Prince William grew out of his young adult phase and into his years where people wondered if the future king would get married soon, he began to lose more than his youth: his hair also paid the price for his aging. There probably isn’t anyone who has not noticed Prince William’s balding head that has the same appearance as his father’s, King Charles III.
But what some people want to know is why Prince William doesn’t just get a hair transplant, or hair plugs of some kind. He certainly has the financial ability to improve his looks in any way he might see fit, but as a member of the British Royal Family, does he have a certain code he has to live by when it comes to his physical appearance?
Prince William’s hair has looked thinner and thinner over the years.
Os genes ingleses são tão cruéis que o príncipe saiu de um catálogo da Ralph Lauren e envelheceu como um gerente de pub depois de 3 divórcios e 14 pints pic.twitter.com/IwF9iK5UDi

A user on X shared a side-by-side photo of Prince William from his younger years compared to present day. They wrote, “English genes are so cruel that the prince stepped out of a Ralph Lauren catalog and aged like a pub manager after 3 divorces and 14 pints.”
While some people joked in the comments about other British men looking different as they aged, or appearing to grow less good looking over time rather than the opposite, some questioned whether or not Prince William should do something about his bald head. Chances are, it hasn’t crossed his mind, since it probably wouldn’t be proper decorum for a royal to have a procedure like that done for vanity’s sake.
But really, is Prince William’s thinning hair any surprise at this point? For some of us, it’s the only way he has looked while in the public eye. For those of us who followed him in the 90s and early 2000s, the hair loss was gradual, but definitely persistent. Still, it’s a topic of conversation among those who follow the royal family out of love and out of sheer curiosity.
A hair transplant might do him wonders.

If prince William were to get a hair transplant at this point in life, sure, it would totally change his appearance. Then again, would he even want that?
“Hair transplant + teeth whitening and this old guy is good as new,” a user wrote in response to the X post.
Someone also wrote, “He did nothing to preserve his looks. That is entirely his right of course but it’s interesting he took zero steps to preserve them. Maybe he didn’t really like being seen as a ‘heartthrob.'”
“Is it mandatory for all of them to have baldness?” Another person joked, of British men aging.
Maybe Prince William’s hair is a direct result of karma, though. As one user put it on X, “Diana snatched them genes back when he started acting like his father.”
The person who made the post on X commented on the thread to claim, “It seems like there’s a rule where you can’t spend money on superfluous things.”
An apparent Prince William sympathizer added, “I still think the prince is handsome to this day, especially his smile’ he was just a victim of baldness, I think if it weren’t for that, he’d still be an object of desire.”
It’s not unlike the hair Prince Philip had.

It’s not totally clear if Prince William is not allowed to get a hair transplant or if it’s just a personal preference. But his father’s hair saw a similar spiral from being a bit fluffier and fuller once upon a time to slowly falling out and leaving the same sort of crown of hair around the sides that Prince William has. Then again, King Charles does have a bit more on top than his adult son.
The late Prince Philip, on the other hand, had a similar progression of hair loss as his grandson. Prince Harry also has thinning hair that seems to have gotten worse over the past few years, almost all of a sudden. It’s clearly genetics, and it’s not something the British Royal Family has ever felt the need to address. For now, and probably for the foreseeable future, it looks like Prince William is happy (more or less) with the bit of hair he has left.
