There are a myriad of reasons the public turned against Gypsy Rose Blanchard after she was released from prison for her role in the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. But the latest one involves alleged leaked phone calls with ex-husband Ryan Anderson from her time in prison.
In a recording posted on TikTok, you can hear the former couple share racist remarks about a Black man that Gypsy’s sister was dating at the time.
The nature of the reported phone call, and other calls that were seemingly leaked on social media, paint Gypsy in a pretty negative light. And, although she and Ryan divorced not long after she was released and they were married, people have turned against him too. He later addressed the calls in a livestream.

In the TikTok with the alleged leaked phone call between Gypsy and Ryan from when she was in prison, she announces that her sister, Mia Blanchard, has started dating a Black man. She makes sure to assure Ryan that this boyfriend is “a little lighter” than a previous boyfriend who was also a Black man. But Ryan makes sure to share his anecdote about white women dating Black men.
“I told you, once you go black, we don’t want you back,” he jokes to Gypsy.
When Gypsy says that the man is a lawyer, Ryan says, “Oh, so he’s an ugly n—o…He ain’t no ghetto n—o.”
In another alleged phone call in the same TikTok, when Ryan uses another N-word slur, Gypsy laughs.
In a separate TikTok with another supposed leaked prison phone call between Gypsy and Ryan, Gypsy says, “I am,” seemingly in reference to being racist. She then says that she would never admit that “to her face” in regards to telling her sister as much. This is particularly surprising for some, especially since in present day, Gypsy’s sister is engaged to one of the Black men that Gypsy and Ryan spoke of in the calls.
Ryan Anderson is heard using offensive language.
For some, the most surprising part might be that Ryan is heard using multiple racial slurs in the alleged phone calls with Gypsy. Before he lost his job, likely because of his connection to Gypsy in her Lifetime reality series, Ryan was a special education teacher.
Someone pointed out in the comments under one of the videos, “He was still a teacher at this time.”
Another speculated, “That’s why Mia hated Ryan. She sensed it.”
“I’m in a interracial relationship, and if I found out my sister was talking about my partner like this, I would go no contact immediately,” someone else commented. “And Ryan being a teacher and teaching children of color and thinking like this is disgusting.

After some of these videos with the alleged phone calls went viral, Ryan addressed the content in one of his frequent livestreams he posts. A recording of one such stream was shared on TikTok and, in it, he says that he is “not that way” and blames the recordings and the leaks on “the haters.” Sure, Jan.
“That’s all these recordings are,” Ryan claims in the clip. “Smear campaigns against me and Gypsy and whoever else is on them. You know, they don’t play anything good. They don’t play anything of substance. They don’t play anything that shows people the real character of somebody. They only play the bad.”
He also says that “people misspeak all the time.” But users in the comments weren’t willing to forget the words Ryan used multiple times in the leaks on TikTok.
“Nahhh you said what you said!!!!” One person commented. And really, for many, they’ve heard enough from him.
