On Wednesday, the shocking news broke that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are moving back to the UK — something it seemed like they would never do. So far, the couple hasn’t shared the reason they’ve decided to leave the home they’ve made for their family in California, so there’s a lot of speculation going on. And according to one theory that some royal watchers have come up with, it could be for a really heartbreaking reason.
The family is moving back to England by the end of the month.
Prince Harry’s visit home must have gone really well last month, because he’s already heading back — and on a much more permanent basis. On Wednesday, People reported that Harry, Meghan, and their kids Archie and Lili are moving back to the UK this month and plan to live in a non-royal residence outside of London. It seems like they’re planning to stay a while, because even though they’re not selling their home in Montecito, they are enrolling the kids in school in Britain.
Meghan’s planning to continue running her As Ever brand from across the pond, and there’s no sign that she and Meghan would be returning to their royal duties in any capacity at this point.
Considering how miserable and unsafe they’ve both said they felt in the UK, it’s truly surprising that they’re voluntarily moving back. Who ever thought that would happen?!
Royal watchers believe King Charles doesn’t have much time left.
Since the Sussexes have yet to confirm the reason for their move, royal watchers are attempting to fill in the blanks. And so far, one of the most likely theories seem to be revolving around King Charles’ health. The man is turning 78 this year, and he’s battling cancer — what if his health is much worse than he’s letting on?
“My prediction is William will be king in a year,” one person wrote in a post on Reddit. “Also Charles wants to get to know his grandkids and wants them front and center at his funeral. He plans to be front page all over the world.”
Another pointed out that losing Princess Diana at such a young age may have colored Harry’s decision here, too, writing, “And when you are down to one parent and lost the other young in a highly public and a dramatic manner, you will move mountains for time left with the other parent.”
Charles himself only found out about Harry and Meghan’s plans just days ago.
Either this was a decision that Harry and Meghan kept top secret for a while, or something changed since their visit to the UK last month, because People reported that Charles only found out about the move on Sunday. And apparently, he “is said to welcome the opportunity to spend more time with the family away from the public spotlight.”
Something is definitely up — it’s just impossible to know for sure what it is yet.
