What to Know
Things reportedly got a bit out of control for a Florida couple driving home from a party on August 15, 2026. Amy Arlene Baker was with her husband and two young children in Broward County when a disagreement broke out between them.
They were driving down Interstate 95 when Baker’s husband claimed she attacked him, biting off a portion of his ear. Baker admitted to biting him, but claims her husband hit her, igniting rage. Now the 43-year-old mother faces charges.
The couple reportedly got into a heated argument in the car.
According to court documents, NBC 6, Baker and her husband left a party in Fort Lauderdale when an argument about personal issues and problems in the relationship began. Baker’s husband told police she called him a homophobic slur and derogatory names, so he clapped back, “Who is the one with a felony?”
Things apparently took a violent turn inside the car. The man claimed Baker first hit him in the face with an open hand. She then allegedly grabbed his face with both hands and bit into his right ear, tearing a portion off. The bleeding husband, who claimed he was in shock, drove to the nearest hospital for treatment of his wound. The couple spoke with police at the emergency room.
Baker had a different story.

She told deputies that her husband allegedly told her to “shut up.” She admitted losing control during the argument and biting him.
The husband denied the allegations. The couple’s two children, ages 7 and 1, were reportedly in the car at the time of the incident. This made things even worse for Baker in the prosecutor’s eyes.
Baker’s alleged actions received mixed reactions online.
Some joked that Baker’s alleged actions reminded them of some other big moments in history.
This person recalled Lorena Bobbitt’s infamous attack on her husband, John Wayne Bobbitt. “His ear? Big deal. Maybe he never heard of Lorena Bobbitt.”
This person compared the bite to a famous boxing match. “Bahaha possibly she’ll hook up with Mike Tyson now he’s looking for a spouse,” they joked.
Others had bigger concerns about what really happened in that vehicle and thought about the consequences the adults’ actions could have had on their children.
“Thank god he didn’t wreck and hurt him the kids or somebody else,” a comment reads.
This person wanted to know more of the story as well and hear from both parties before they made their determination about whose side they were on.
“Since I always see victim blaming when the genders are reversed… what did he do/say to push her to that point? There’s no way just a simple argument would cause that kind of reaction,” they wrote.
No word as to whether alcohol or drugs were involved in the case. Baker faces charges of aggravated battery and causing great bodily harm. She also faces two counts of child neglect for “committing the aggravated battery in front of both her children, causing possible mental distress.”
