Britney Spears’ memoir, The Woman in Me, will hit stores on Tuesday, October 24. This week, excerpts of the book have been released to various media outlets, giving us insight into why she shaved her head in 2007, her relationship with her parents, and her conservatorship. Of course, much of the attention this week has been focused on her three-year relationship with Justin Timberlake, with a half dozen stories coming out about all the ways he failed as a boyfriend. But there is one relationship that Britney is also opening up about, and that’s her brief romance with Irish actor Colin Farrell in 2003.

Britney makes their time together sound steamy.
According to Time, the two were introduced by a "club promoter friend" of Britney's while Colin was filming his 2003 movie S.W.A.T. Apparently, things between them were quite intense. Britney called her hookup with Colin a "a two-week brawl," adding, "we were all over each other, grappling so passionately it was like we were in a street fight."
Colin maintained that the relationship was strictly casual.

Colin took her as his plus one to the premiere of his film The Recruit, which caused a lot of buzz. On the red carpet, Colin, who was 26 at the time, made it clear that the appearance wasn’t a hard launch of anything.
"We’re not dating," he said at the time, via Entertainment Weekly. "She’s a sweet, sweet girl. There’s nothing going on — just mates."
Despite her time with Colin, Britney was still hung up on her ex, Justin.
Even as she was having a torrid affair with the super hot Colin, Britney claimed that she still "wasn’t over" her relationship with Justin.
"As I had before when I’d felt too attached to a man, I tried to convince myself in every way that it was not a big deal, that we were just having fun, that in this case I was vulnerable because I wasn’t over Justin yet," she admitted.

Britney got candid about their relationship in the past.

Multiple outlets are reporting that Britney told W Magazine at the time that she had kissed Colin and that he was "cutest, hottest thing in the world," but also noted that their relationship, if you could even call it that, was "nothing serious." It seems that's still her takeaway from it even now, years later.
Their tryst seemed to end just as quickly as it started.
Britney doesn’t explain why or how her time with Colin came to an end in her book, but did say that she felt their relationship could have had potential.
"For a brief moment in time, I did think there could be something there. The disappointments in my romantic life were just one part of how isolated I became. I felt so awkward all the time," she said.
Britney is speaking out about the public's reaction to what they've learned about the book so far.
Britney took to Instagram to address all of the media coverage ahead of the book, claiming that she didn't want to "offend anyone by any means!"
"Most of the book is from 20 years ago … I have moved on and it’s a beautiful clean slate from here!!!" she wrote. "Again, my motive for this book was not to harp on my past experiences which is what the press is doing and it’s dumb and silly!!! I have moved on since then!!!"
