It’s hard to believe that Britney Spears first graced our CD players (back when we had them) 25 years ago when her song "…Baby One More Time" was released in October 1998. Since then, a lot of things have happened to Britney, all of which she has outlined in her new memoir, The Woman in Me. We have watched Britney go from a teenage girl to a grown woman and mother to teens. A viral video on TikTok shows the evolution of Britney’s face in the time she’s been famous, and although some people are pointing out the aging process, others think her face changes are about something bigger than just getting older.

The video points out some interesting changes.
“What happened to Britney Spears?" the video, shared by user @ryleerayneoaks, asks in the caption. The video shows Britney's face morphing through all the different stages of her career and major hairstyle changes between 1998 and 2023.
The user included hashtags such as #wheredidshego #thatsnother #bot, insinuating that something may be up.
The comment section is a wild mix of reactions.
Some people are pointing out that of course her face is going to change over the course of 25 years. She goes from 17 to 41 in the two-and-a-half-minute video, after all — plus, she did have two kids in two years.
“It happens to us all. She seems to be holding it off better than most of us," one person commented.
"She looks great. What do you mean 'what happened?' Nothing happened! She got older," another commenter added.
"Oh wow … pictures of a persons face from different angles as it ages. Crazy how not every pic looks the same," one commenter quipped.
Others are pointing out the ways her struggles have manifested in her physical appearance.
“People missing the point obviously she’s going to age but everything she went through aged her more than it should have she doesn’t have that light in," one person pointed out.
"They had her well medicated after they broke her," someone else added, while another commenter said that her family "sucked the soul out of her and sold what was left of her to the world, for a profit."

Whatever the reason, the years have definitely made subtle changes to Britney's face.
"Wow that’s sad to see the light in her eyes disappear," one commenter observed.
"I couldn't stop looking at her eyes! She may be smiling but her eyes say it all! When she use to smile it lit her whole face!" another person wrote.
Another comment read, "The sparkle went out of her eyes. Was back and forth during her bad times. In the last 3-4 years no sparkle."
Britney is a survivor.
Regardless of what may or may not have happened to her face, Britney has not had it easy over the last 25 years, especially during her conservatorship and, more recently, her divorce from Sam Asghari just a year after they tied the knot.
Here's hoping that the years to come are much kinder to Brit as she continues to heal.
