Brittany Mahomes Called Out by Swifties After Old Tweets About Hating Taylor Swift Surface

There's a lot to love about Taylor Swift's adorable new relationship with Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce, and that includes her new friendship with Brittany Mahomes, wife of the team's famous quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The two women have been spotted hanging out together in the VIP box at football games, creating special handshakes and cheering together. Taylor also has made Brittany a part of her squad of friends, inviting her to nights out with Selena Gomez and Sophie Turner. But some Swifties are less than excited about the new besties and have found old tweets Brittany wrote about Taylor from way before they met.

Some Swiftie detectives did some digging and found the tweets.

Because the internet is forever, Swifties — who are excellent sleuths in their own right — have tracked down snarky tweets on X (formerly known as Twitter) posted by Brittany back in 2013.

"Taylor Swift … I wanna know when your gonna find something different to write about besides boys and relationships," one of the tweets reads.

The tweets are more than 10 years old but especially relevant now.

The tweets are from 2013, which means Brittany was a teenager at a time — and anyone who's ever been hit with a particularly cringeworthy Facebook memory knows that a lot can change in that time! So it’s entirely probable that the way Brittany feels about Taylor has evolved since then, and now that they are in relationships with men who are close friends, she has put all of those feelings behind her and is enjoying her new friendship.

There's a much more serious reason that fans are concerned about Taylor and Brittany's friendship.

The old tweets would be enough for some people, but other Swifties are not pleased about the friendship for another very important reason.

Brittany’ brother-in-law, Jackson Mahomes, was arrested and charged with three felony counts of aggravated sexual battery, along with a fourth misdemeanor count of battery, earlier this year after he allegedly sexually assaulted a female restaurant owner.

Brittany spoke out in defense of Jackson at the time.

Brittany came to her brother-in-law’s defense during an April Instagram Q&A when asked about the situation.

"They are ignorant. He is a human just trying to live his life and find his way, and until you walk a day in his shoes (which no one ever will), you have no right to say s— about him," she wrote in her post, ending the thought with a smiley face. "So it’s best to just shut up."

In 2017, a jury sided with Taylor after she countersued a radio DJ for $1, alleging that he had reached under her skirt and grabbed her butt while they posed for a photo together. The lawsuit made major headlines at the time, and Taylor has seemingly remained an advocate for people who have been in similar situations, which is leaving fans wondering why she would be friends with Brittany after she refused to condemn Jackson's alleged actions.

Fans are sharing their disappointment on social media.

"How is taylor gonna be so vocal about sexual assault and standing up for and believing victims then go hang out with Brittany Mahomes, I’m so sad and disappointed with Taylor,” a fan tweeted, sharing a screenshot of Brittany's defense of Jackson.

"You know what would be a lot more meaningful than Brittany Mahomes deleting her Taylor hate tweets? Brittany making a public apology to Jackson’s SA victim for trying to silence her, Taylor donating money to the victim who lost her business over reporting him," another person shared.
