Collin Gosselin Didn’t Hear From Mom Kate Gosselin or Siblings After He Nearly Died

Collin Gosselin is revealing more shocking details about his estrangement from mom Kate Gosselin and his siblings. According to the former Jon & Kate Plus 8 star, he learned exactly where he stood with them after he was in a near-fatal car crash last year.

Collin's accident could have killed him.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight back in 2022, Collin initially opened up to host Kevin Frazier about the crash.

He fell asleep at the wheel on his way to work. "Next thing I know, car was flipped, and I'm just, like, sliding upside down across traffic," he said.

And during Collin's appearance on the new Vice TV docuseries, Dark Side of the 2000s, he revealed that he didn't hear anything from his mom or siblings after the accident happened. "They didn't reach out at all," he said.

He truly believes that Kate is the source of his estrangement from his siblings.

That’s not all that came up in the interview. Collin shared more about his famous family and his estrangement from his mother and siblings.

"So, my mother, she's very controlling. She's determined, she knows what she wants and she gets what she wants," he said. He also believes that she’s the reason he doesn’t have a relationship with his other six siblings, aside from sister Hannah Gosselin, who he's close with to this day.

"I think my mom kind of drove a social barrier between us. She told them the story one way, and obviously I see the story a different way."

Collin's 'behavior' issues drove a wedge between the family.

When he was younger, Collin spent time in a behavioral facility for what Kate once referred to as his "special needs." In 2016, she sent him to the Fairmount Behavioral Health Institute in Philadelphia because she claimed she could no longer handle him.

Collin admitted that although he wasn’t the "perfect child," his "misbehaving was no different than my siblings." Hs father, Jon Gosselin, has previously stated that Collin was diagnosed with ADHD.

It was Collin’s time in the facility paired with the $1 million custody battle between his parents that led to his estrangement from his mom and siblings.

Hannah said Collin's time away was 'really dark' for her.

"We did not talk to Collin for years while he was in the facility, we didn't even know where he was," Hannah, the only sibling Collin is in contact with, said in the Vice series.

Jon also gained custody of Hannah. It was once she moved in with her dad that the truth about what happened with her mom and brother came out.

"That was a big thing for me because I couldn't comprehend why my mom would do that to one of our siblings, her own kid," Hannah said. "Everyone eventually found out what happened to him but now they decided to just not have a relationship with him."

Collin hopes for a better future with his siblings.

Collin is pretty candid about his belief that being on their hit TLC show did irreparable damage to his family. He still judges his parents’ decision to put them on TV.

"At the end of the day, none of us decided to be on TV, we didn't get the choice, it was our parent's decision," he said.

But he’s holding out hope that maybe one day he will be able to have a relationship with his estranged siblings.

"I love them to death. I really, really hope one day that we can all reconnect and put the show behind us and just be siblings again, take back that time we didn't have," he added.
